And the dirtiest team (LC that is) that I've seen since Austin LBJ 2 years ago.

Can you give examples of what you mean by this? I’m curious what were they doing exactly.

Perhaps I shouldn't have said that, but keep in mind that I was watching the game live.  The one incident that I was referring to was their running back's stiff arm to the face, which actually appeared to be fingers into the eyes, of a would be tackler.  I happened to be sitting in Gen Adm., right at the goal line, about 4 or 5 rows up, and thought I saw it pretty well.

Also I was probably too hard on the refs last night. Refs by and large, for the past 3 seasons, just don't seem to call holding very often.  They did throw a couple of flags for hits out of bounds. And the pile ups at the goal line, with the QB at the bottom of the pile, I guess a TD can be tough to call. By the time they dig down to the bottom of the pile, anything can happen.

I'm hoarse this morning from yelling. Heck of a game. My grandson and his girlfriend went to the concession stand with the score tied 14-14, and by the time they returned, the score was 35-35.

Is Faircloth back at PN-g?

Ha!  Don't bring that up on the PNG forum, you'll have those folks all over you!  But, it sure seemed like it last night.  Two high powered offenses for sure.  Defense made some stops, but really stepped up at the end.

Stats are hard to find these days.  The local newspapers forgot we had games last night.   Here are some that I’ve seen posted.

PNG -460 rushing- 146 passing

Bailey 8-12 for 146, 2 TD’s

Henry- 27 carries for 298 yards

Chatagnier- 23 for 162

Lake Creek- 300 rushing- 246 passing

QB- 14-22 for 246-   14 carries for 146 yards

RB- 14 for 119

NO DOUBT we have some work to do on defense but keeping things in perspective…LC probably has the best QB, RB, and O-Line in Region 2!  They were IMPRESSIVE!’  So if you take away the 21 points we pretty much handed them in the first half off our mistakes…the score probably wouldn’t have been that close because we came out and held them to 2 scores in the 2nd half!
I’m also betting their Coach might have a different opinion of the “environment” at The Reservation now…lol!

I think our O-line is better than LCs. I had to remind myself in all my “what is going on with the defense” panic : Our o-line played at a crazy high level last night. It’s crazy how they simply deleted the d-line and LBs from the game.

If that is correct, Henry’s rushing yardage ranks fifth at PNG for a single game

365 Koby Trahan - Kingwood Park, 2021

347 Jeff Bergeron - Nederland, 1971

307 Caleb Harmon - LCM, 2009

301 Roschon Johnson - Crosby, 2017

298 Tyson Henry - Lake Creek, 2024

Lake creeks band left way before the game was finished!! Talk about support!!

It was because they had to be up early for the Marching Showcase in Madisonville.  Our band will probably have to do the same thing next week because the game is in Huntsville and they have Pre-UIL contest at The Reservation the next day!!

That makes sense. I thought (jokingly) that maybe they wanted to get to Canes before they closed. I've been seeing school buses from all over pulled in there lately. And one, I can't remember where from, was pulled into Rao's (next door to Canes) last week.

I know I'm way late to the party but that was one the best high school football games I've ever seen. LC is a big dog. PNG won this game because of 'Heart', the crowd affected the last drive with the noise which led to 2 false starts. First time I ever saw a game where both kickers were left footed. Kudos to coach Hanratty for sprinting with that big purple 'P' flag at least 9 times for a hundred yards plus. One of those games where you hate to see someone has to lose. Don't know enough about how the teams will be matched in the playoffs but if they play again in the 3rd round it's gonna be must see football. Hope both teams have a good rest of the year and avoid losing players.

Good thoughts! FYI, we could meet in the third round if one of us gets the first seed and the other gets the 4th seed (and we both won through, of course). Likewise, if one of us gets 2nd and the other gets 3rd, we’d be on the same side of the regional bracket and could play for the 3rd round (which would require the 2nd seed to beat SOC in the second round). If we go to opposite sides of the regional bracket, we could potentially meet in the 4th round. A lot of football between now and then, but that’s how it would work.
