Kind of hard to figure out this year with splitting the teams into divisions after district play ends.

I'll give it a try in a few days after doing some extensive research. lol

Initially, I think Kountze will go farther in the playoffs than any other of our coverage area schools.

i'm thinking HJ will be much improved this year.

i'm calling WB to dethrone BU as district champs.

Port Arthur Memorial will have a say about who's district champs this upcoming season.

Split Divisions will be very interesting to predict who goes big and small.

3A Guess for the area coverage teams:

Division 1 likely top playoff teams (which will include Hitchcock early rounds, Mexia later rounds) not in order:

Orangefield, Crockett, Central (they could go small but likely big based on teams in district), Anahuac, Coldspring

Division 2 likely top playoff teams (includes Westwood, Franklin later in path):

Central Heights, East Chambers, Kountze, Onalaska

No argument here at all. I really like the guard they have. IDK his name but he’s the bright kid that’s about 6’1

You're probably talking about Hilstock or Bryant.

Think OF will be better this year than I was initially expecting. Don’t think they bear Kountze this year, but depending on how the playoff splits shake out should make it till whatever round they get Hitchcock again (who I know Kountze is glad not to see again)

Could you fill me in on this “split”? Been awhile for too long I guess, no idea what that entails.

Basketball (and all other sports) are going to divisions like football. Div. 1 and Div. 2. But, unlike football, the divisions are not determined until after district play. The two highest enrollment teams of the four who make the playoffs will be the Division 1 reps and the other two teams will be the Division 2 reps. You will have a #1 and #2 seed in each division. No more #3 and #4 seeds even though teams will finish 3rd and 4th in their respective districts.

In football, the districts are already put in divisional districts. Basketball for the next two years will divide after district play. Next realignment all the districts will be divisional districts like football.

Kountze and Evadale should go far in the playoffs. Silsbee could go deep depending on which teams make the playoffs. Be glad not to see faith family

Kimball will be DI

Silsbee most likely will be DII

In the 4A DII Region 3, Silsbee should be thr favorite to make to state i would think.

Who else is likely to make D2 in basketball that's good? I'd like to know before getting too bold with my predictions. I'd expect at least a pretty good season out of Silsbee though.

A lot of these kids haven't spent much time playing together in real games. I'd expect to see five or six new arrivals out there. The Tigers will really need a reliable second and third option on the court. They can't just rely on PJ to do everything all the time.

If talking about Region III, #5 Houston Wheatley will be Div. II. Have just about everyone back from Regional Semifinal team.

#15 Hamshire-Fannett will likely be a Div. II team as well.

There is no guarantee that Silsbee will go Div. II. If Jasper and WO-S make playoffs with Silsbee, Tigers will go Div. I

Jasper was terrible last year. I don't know if the team quit on their coach or what happened. WO-S should be better.

I see what would have been one of our new kids is playing for Hamshire Fannett now. He would have been a solid player for us.

I still expect some of our remaining new players to step up.

Don't sleep on Brookeland, they are primed to make a run to state this year. Came within 3 mins of state last season and brought all 5 starters back!

It's possible, but Leggett could have something to say about that.  Brookeland will surely make the playoffs.  Will they be Div I or II

Brookeland will be DI
