Bobcat101 Posted October 1 Report Posted October 1 Orangefield faces off with Anahuac for perhaps the District Title. I think both offense are clicking. Best Defense wins. Quote
Guitar Man Posted October 1 Report Posted October 1 Orangefield may keep it close early, but Anahuac runs away with it. I’ll take the Panthers 28-14 Quote

It should definitely be a 3-team race for district but not sure anyone can stop Anahuac’s defense right now, though. They are absolutely smothering teams. I haven’t seen the same out of the other two. Quote

In fact, EC is given up fewer points per game than Anahuac. fatthead 1 Quote
AggiesAreWe Posted October 1 Report Posted October 1 Quick research has Anahuac giving up 21 points per game while EC is giving up 14.5 per game. Now Anahuac does have the better offense. AP_5309 and Split Down The Bayou 2 Quote
Split Down The Bayou Posted October 1 Report Posted October 1 Anahuac's win over Woodville is what has me leaning towards them to win. I watched OF against BC and Woodville vs Diboll. I didn't see anyone on OF that is near as good as Woodville's two RB's (26 & 15) 35-14 Panthers Quote

They will face each other next week so it will be interesting to see. I've seen both teams play and I'll say Anahuac by 20+. Kirbyville felt good about their 3-1 record before last week also. They also had not played anyone tough outside of Bridge City. The EC/Anahuac rivalry always makes for a good time. AP_5309 1 Quote

That simply isn't the case. Smothering defense doesn't give up 50+ in a game or 21 per game. You also said EC defense wasn't as good and I gave you numbers that shows otherwise. Quote

LSA is definitely better offensively than any team EC has faced but I'm not sure they're better than Rice overall. Quote

Cat22 Posted October 1 Report Posted October 1 I thought this was an Orangefield vs Anahuac thread! Anahuac and EC are the top two in the district but don’t overlook Orangefield. They are getting better each week as they continue to learn Breaux’s system. They opened up the offense more last week and will continue each week. BayBaller and AggiesAreWe 2 Quote
Bobcat101 Posted October 3 Author Report Posted October 3 Still looking forward to this game. Will gauge how much improvement Orangefield has made since the lost to “cheating” BC (I joke). I’ve been really impressed with the running of #17 coming in for #2. The O-Line is the big story for Orangefield. Pulling for an upset. Quote

Separation Scientist Posted October 10 Report Posted October 10 I loosely follow Anahuac. I am kind of amazed the wheels fell off. Are they that bad, or was it just one real bad night? At this rate they might be 4th place. Quote

Well they still have to play East Chambers tomorrow and they play us last game in district so I would just look at it as one very bad night. Now they will get into the playoffs (Buna and Hardin has absolutely no chance against them) but I think this district will play out very strange with teams in different positions.
