If I'm being honest, that Silsbee ranking is a little too generous. Are a lot of these 4A teams down, or are we benefiting from name recognition? It probably won't hold for long anyways if the Tigers start the season like they usually do.

One good thing about this year is they won't have to wait long on the football players.

Faith Family has dropped out of Class 5A to play a national schedule.

I wonder if that means their girls’ coach is unsuspended and their 18 transfers can play.

The suspension is lifted for Coach Andrea Robinson & her assistants coach & the 18 players since they are going to play a national schedule.

The suspension is still valid with the UIL.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.  Silsbee should hang a banner in the gym and put a trophy in the case that reads  2022 4A Provisional State Champions and another that reads 2024 4A Provisional State Champions.  And Washington should do the same for 2023.

The aberration has ended.  Now.  What about the other charter schools and to a lesser degree the magnet schools.  The answer is simple and the way FF was delt with is the answer.  Move them to 5A Div 1.  Meaning they go 5A Div 1 irrespective of their enrollment.  If they have a problem with it they need to increase their enrollment accordingly.

Now don't get me wrong, I think the charter school and magnet school concepts are good and serve a purpose.  For instance, the Yates Maritime Academy magnet program, in partnership with the Port of Houston is great thing.

#17 Jefferson knocked off #3 Tatum last night. I would imagine Westwood moves up to #3. We will get to see several of these teams at the Tenaha tournament in a couple of weeks.

Jefferson has a very good group of athletes going through right now.  Highly ranked in football, and should have a good season in basketball as well.  I've enjoyed following them the last few years since I spend a lot of my winter up that way at the deer lease about 10 miles outside of town.
