My predictions on the districts I know the most about:

21-3A

1. Pollok Central      DI

2. Central Heights      DII

3. Diboll  DI

4.   Woodville DII

22-3A (I agree with you here but can see some tiebreaker scenarios with Orangefield/EC as easily can flip both of them)

1. Kountze     DII

2. East Chambers    DII

3. Orangefield     DI

4. Anahuac     DI

23-3A (Toughest part on this district is 5 out of 6 coaches are brand new to the schools/districts, Anderson-Shiro in mix as well for 4 seed as they return a ton including best player. New Waverly had a couple of kids move out of district from what I have heard that were good players including their leading scorer. I predict District MVP will be Devon Vienneau for Onalaska.)

1. Onalaska      DII

2. Crockett     DI

3. Coldspring   DI

4. Trinity   DII

Was not aware of the two leaving New Waverly. With that being the case, I can see Trinity getting in there.

I thought about putting Central Heights in my top 4. Always well coached.

I didn't realize PC had a larger enrollment than Woodville.

Yes I only found out recently. And yes I was surprised too that they have around 50 more kids reported.

Let's see your preseason picks.

Brookeland will be D1 no matter what, they're the 2nd biggest in their district. Spurger will be D2 in that scenario.

If they'd gone to two divisions 15 years ago I bet there would be at least 3-4 more 4A championships in our coverage area in that time, maybe more.  I don't know if I'm a huge fan of it, but at least some of these big city schools won't get to just beat up on the little country schools.  Not sure of exactly how they're doing it, but IMO any 3A-4A school from a city of more than say 100,000 people should automatically be opted up to D1 in their division for the playoffs.

Divisions will be about enrollment.

Two largest of the four teams qualifying for playoffs will go DI, other two will go DII.

This will be for this year and next. Nest realignment will have districts separated like football.

You are correct that there will be some districts that has all their schools with enrollments larger than every school in other districts. So it's likely you will have what some would consider DI schools still playing DII schools in the playoffs.

Kinda what I figured.  I guess if it's only lasting two years it's not too big of a deal, although they need to consider making all big city schools D1 in their classifications.

Did Tarkington lose a lot of guys to graduation? I thought they were pretty scrappy last year.

    • naw, maaaaybe 7, definitely not 8 deep.  today im avoiding sitting by #10s parents, had to move away yesterday.   "put my son back in jub, put my son back in"  and then crying on every little touch of someone.    lets ball out today ktz!
    • Very close game until the 2nd half (mostly the 4th) when Orangefield came unraveled. Worse defensive effort I have seen out of the Bobcats in three years. This team has to get back on D and quit getting beat over the top when pressing. Offensively, non ball handlers continually turn it over and their shot selection is poor. Basic basketball, such as: defensive hustle, boxing out, and taking care of the basketball are the areas the Bobcats need to work on most. Whitmire will get them on point, but he shouldn't have to coach effort at the Varsity Level.  We'll be at McNeese this Friday night at 6pm.
    • I don’t benefit from it, that’s not my area.  But the average cost to imprison someone is around $15k per year (on average in the US) and capital cases cost somewhere between $1.5-$3M with over half being overturned or reduced to life in prison anyway.  These numbers may be inflated since the last report I read but I’m sure it would be on both sides and higher on the DP side if anything. So what’s the point?  We feel better because we got to return the favor on someone (hopefully) who committed a heinous crime?  And I don’t know I can say we have “complicated” it. Which appeal should we cut out?  Our justice system has a pecking order and we have higher courts for a reason. When we are about to impose the ultimate judgment, should we cut steps that other cases have to save a buck?  Or do we not pay for an indigent person’s experts at the trial court level because it’s too expensive? Or do we just lock them up and throw away the key (unless we later find out they weren’t actually guilty, in which case we have a key and a life we haven’t unjustly ended) and save a ton of money?  Seems to me to be an obvious solution but I’m more of a pragmatist.
    • 1 thing for certain. Coach Earned 3 more years to figure it out lol
