spidersal Posted March 19 Report Posted March 19 Another nice non conference win vs Tulane and a pretty decent record. It’s sad that they can’t win conference games, which will do their season in Quote
myrecordwashorrible Posted March 22 Author Report Posted March 22 Cards beat Corpus 2-0 last night. Game 2 tonight at 5. Note: As of last night's game, the SLC has the 6th highest RPI (Boyd's World) in the nation. That is better than the American, Sunbelt (big deal in my eyes), and CUSA. The Sunbelt has had six College World Series appearances among its schools. Yes, some were years ago. Quote
spidersal Posted March 22 Report Posted March 22 That is very good for the SLC, however the only team that will be invited to a regional will be the team that wins the conference tournament. The committees in the major sports do not think highly of the SLC Quote

When it has happened the regular season champ loses out in the tournament, but has had a tremendous year with a decent strength of schedule. Not often, but not unheard of. Quote
myrecordwashorrible Posted March 23 Author Report Posted March 23 Lamar with 12-6 win. Go for the sweep at 1 tomorrow Quote
myrecordwashorrible Posted March 23 Author Report Posted March 23 Cardinals sweep Islanders. 8-0 today. Quote
spidersal Posted March 23 Report Posted March 23 Good puts them at 6-6, unfortunately they are still near the bottom of the conference. Hopefully they will get on a roll Quote
myrecordwashorrible Posted March 26 Author Report Posted March 26 LU defeats Rice 2-1. Cardinals now 20-7 on the season. Head to San Antonio to face UIW this weekend. Quote
myrecordwashorrible Posted Friday at 11:02 PM Author Report Posted Friday at 11:02 PM Lamar takes game 1 against UIW 8-5 in 10 innings. The gametracker shows a score of 1-0 in the bottom of 2. Not sure if it is stuck in game 1 or if they are playing 2 today. Not seeing anything about a double header on either universities' website or X account. Thinking the gametracker is off and off bad. snakehead26 Posted Saturday at 11:11 PM Report Posted Saturday at 11:11 PM Lamar wins Saturday game 8-4. Will go for sweep tomorrow. Need to win these games against the weaker opponents because the rest of the conference is very tough this year. myrecordwashorrible 1 Quote

Conference is #6 overall in RPI. Weakest teams are around 200 RPI with the majority of the teams sitting in the top 100. On the human polls, specifically NCBWA I saw UTRGV and Lamar had some votes but they are not in top 25. It would be truly nice if we could get two bids because winning the conference tournament will be super difficult this year. myrecordwashorrible 1 Quote

Hey, hey, hey. We got Uncle Spidey being at least somewhat positive in the baseball thread at times. He's a work in progress. Quote
spidersal Posted Sunday at 07:49 PM Report Posted Sunday at 07:49 PM Yes the SLC has a few baseball teams playing well as of today. Hopefully Lamar will win it all. With that being stated, the only way a team other than the tournament champion will have to have 39+ wins. Quote
snakehead26 Posted Sunday at 08:59 PM Report Posted Sunday at 08:59 PM LU run rules UIW and wins 17-6 in 7 innings of series final. Next at Tarleton State for a Tuesday afternoon game. myrecordwashorrible 1 Quote

myrecordwashorrible Posted yesterday at 07:12 PM Author Report Posted yesterday at 07:12 PM Utilized Boyd's World for stating 6 teams in the top 100 RPI. The NCAA website has a different list that actually has 7 and did so last week as well. If the conference RPI remains strong, the conference has a real shot at 2 teams in the post season. Great chance if the regular season champion has a strong record and RPI, but doesn't win the conference tournament. Could use some midweek wins over some quality programs and the Sunbelt and other historically strong leagues remain below the SLC in the conference RPI. Quote
spidersal Posted 17 hours ago Report Posted 17 hours ago I like your thought process, however I just don’t see the committee taking 2 SLC teams unless they figure out tournament non winner has at least 39 wins. Unfortunately the committee’s in the major sports do not think much of the SLC Quote
spidersal Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago Well I just saw the 1st projection of the 64 ncaa baseball teams to make the regionals and UTRGV was the only 1 from the SLC. I know it is early, however this states what they think about the SLC Quote
