spudaroo Posted November 3 Report Posted November 3 I am a retired coach with two State champioship rings, but the officating in the PNG/Montgomery was as bad as I have ever seen. Watched film of game plus was at game and PNG first TD #15 fumbled before crossing the plane and montgomery recovered in the endzone on 4th down. Line judge calls TD before fumble. Very, very obvious ball was fumbled before breaking the plain. Difference in ball game and a chance for district championship is 6 pts. Unbelieveable this is the best that can be found for A HUGE 5A Game and the refrees make the difference in who wins. Takes the game out of the kids hands Quote
aki1994 Posted November 3 Report Posted November 3 Go file a complaint. You know what was also missed that play? The kid making the tackle had him by the facemask and completely pulled his helmet off doing so. Fumble no fumble. If it all was called right. First and goal PNG. Aggie521 1 Quote

PNG4LIFE91 Posted November 3 Report Posted November 3 So, file a complaint with TASO because complaining about it on here isn’t going to accomplish ANYTHING…which you should KNOW being a retired coach with 2 State Championships and all. Rob Corpus 1 Quote

spudaroo Posted November 4 Author Report Posted November 4 TASO will agree and give a public acknowledgement and say they were wrong and game stands. Been there done that. And look up 2006 -2007 state champions and find the team that went 28-0 those two years. Quote

You should have stopped the game and told the officials they were wrong and to change it. Quote

Unfortunately referees are human, mistakes are made. As fans it will burn your butt when the call goes against you. As Christians we must forgive and move on. If life was perfect no high school football would ever be played. Remember, they are just boys playing a game, and boys make are sometimes going to make mistakes as well. Hoping the Bears, and the referees move forward with blessings of focus and peace. WOSdrummer99 1 Quote
OC07 Posted November 4 Report Posted November 4 I am a retired coach also, i hope this doesn't make my point invalid because i don't have 2 State Championships, only a couple of district championships, but from where I was sitting it looked liked the runner got in on the first or second try, which was missed by the official. It should have never got to 4th down. I am sure you couldn't see that looking through those rose colored glasses. As a retired coach, especially one with 2 State Championships, I am really surprised you decided to take this up on a message board. Aggie521, 1970 and Rob Corpus 3 Quote

But I've noticed all season, the refs reluctance to signal TD with the goal line pile ups. I forget which game, either Laporte or MLC, Coach Joseph got really mad when the pile clearly crossed the goal line and the refs wouldn't signal TD. Quote

Takes the game out of the kids hands Correct me if I am wrong, don't the coaches agree on the crew way in advance? Both coaches have to agree, correct? So, coaches probably picked what they thought were the best available for the game. Might have used them in the past and had good luck with the crew. Without the instant replay in HS football, officiating will play a factor. Calls like this could be reviewed and get it right, like they do in NCAA. But that would cost money and dont think we are there yet for HS regular season games! Quote
pngfan316 Posted November 4 Report Posted November 4 We still recovered it in the endzone so it don't matter🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️ Quote

jimbob82 Posted November 5 Report Posted November 5 Spudaroo, must have didn't get the memo. All mid county teams ie: PNG:NED, GET a FREE touchdown, BEFORE the teams get off the bus. It's always been this way...Just ask around.... Quote
