Cougtalk Posted November 4 Report Posted November 4 Winner gets 2nd and a Weiss team, Loser gets third and a College Station team. Loser of this game will be a heavy underdog going into their playoff matchup, Winner is likely a very slight favorite. Crosby has not shown they can beat a team like Angleton a win this week would be a coup. Angleton is a pretty heavy favorite given these two teams performances against LP. In all honesty I think Angleton is what Crosby would be if we could throw the ball, but we aren't able to do that consistently and that's why teams get to stack 9 in the box every week. 35-7 Angleton. Angleton wasn’t able to run against La Porte. They burnt LP up with long passes to their tall, speedy WR’s. I seem to remember y’all’s secondary being better cover guys than LP’s. It will depend on if y’all can stuff the run like LP did. Angleton’s D is pretty stout. They were keying on Barnes, and Simon was an unknown to them. So, he had a big day to the tune of 351 yards and 4 TD’s. (Of course, he’s also a special player—freshman or not.) Y’all are gonna have to scrounge for yards. It may be a lower scoring game than what you think. But, I think you’re in-line with the low Crosby score. I’m thinking somewhere closer to 21-7 if y’all’s pass D can hold up. The Angleton QB likes to just launch it & LP missed a couple fairly easy INT’s y’all may be better able to get. Not that you’ll be able to score off them. But, it could take possessions away from them & keep the score within a pretty big upset range. Good luck to both teams, and come away injury free & PO ready. Cougar14.2 1 Quote
OlDawg Posted November 4 Report Posted November 4 Also, be aware of Angleton’s propensity to use blind side blocks. They were called for about 5 of them if I recall correctly. Quote
purple reign Posted November 5 Report Posted November 5 Angleton may be without their best back who left Friday's game with an injury. It could definitely affect their offense. It's hard to replace somebody who averaged nearly 9 yards/carry. They need to clean up all the mistakes they made last week. Crosby usually plays better at home and this will probably be the same. So I would be happy with any win, even a 1 point win. It doesn't make too much difference whether you play College Station or Weiss since College Station only beat Weiss by 6 points. I guess your preference depends on whether you match up better against a run oriented team, College Station or a pass oriented team Weiss. Angleton has only played College Station once in 2015 in the 3rd round of the playoffs winning 38-22 against a heavy favorite. They went on to the 4th round and lost 36-35 in overtime to Ridge Point. Nobody thought they would get that far since they finished the regular season 5-5 which included a 34-0 loss to Crosby in Crosby. What about Crosby? They lost to the same team, Ridge Point in the 2nd round, 42-14. It's not how you start, but how you finish. Quote
Justafan72 Posted November 5 Report Posted November 5 Crosby ends their Season with 2 crushing defeats.Put the 2 sophomores in the backfield and get ready for 2025 if that is even possible. Sorry Seniors. Quote

AHUDDLESTON Posted November 7 Report Posted November 7 Crosby has a chance at 2nd place? ???? I thought at the beginning of the year that Coach Willis was so bad, that they would be lucky to win 1 game? Good job, Joe. Keep it up! Quote

I thought at the beginning of the year that Coach Willis was so bad, that they would be lucky to win 1 game? Good job, Joe. Keep it up! Crosby hasn’t beaten a team that finished the season over .500 during the Willis era. We’ll finish the year 5-6 for a total of 7-14 under his leadership. Crosby is the beneficiary of the weak district. Crosby had a chance to shake the current stigma and win an important district game against a squad with equal talent and lost by 46. We’ll finish in 3rd just like a lot of people thought before the season and it will look like improvement, but imagine if the UIL swapped us with Baytown Sterling? We would again be struggling to get to 2-8. Im happy for the kids and staff that get to go to the playoffs but I’m also realistic. We’re not out coaching anybody with equal talent. Quote
