Wish that applied to the $1 trillion PPP in free money handouts

Im ready next time it happens though. I pay a crazy amount in taxes so I’m going to get as much “free” government money where I can

This has nothing to do with student loan forgiveness. Stop highjacking threads

As long as it falls within the guidelines of the tax code, and I don't a.) have to repay it or b.) get penalized for it, then I don't have an issue with it. I don't know what the definition of "fair share" means to everybody, but I'm pretty sure I fill that requirement and then some.

It was based on your monthly expenses, and you got 80% of that.  It was for payroll (to employees) and rent on your business. If you fired anyone you had to pay it back.

And different from Student Loan Forgiveness - All of this was agreed to before signing the agreement.

Your post make it obvious why Trump was elected in a clean electoral sweep, the popular vote and both houses......

Lol. They fight for the rights of the wealthy. Rich people had their loans forgiven and they were ok with that

In fact, Congress passed and the President signed into law TEPSLF in 2018 which expanded the original PSLF benefits and helped borrowers who were denied PSLF the first time around get a second shot at tax-free forgiveness.

PSLF-Public Service Loan Forgiveness

Started by  a Republican President in 2007.

Expanded by Trump in 2018.

For a little more accurate description.

From the article:

After the disastrous results of 2017, both Congress and the Dept. of Ed. moved to streamline the process and provide options for some rejected borrowers. Some of the most common rejections were due to non-qualifying employment—addressed in 2012 by adding the ECF—and by being on a non-qualifying payment plan. To amend the latter problem, the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2018 temporarily expanded PSLF (TEPSLF), which allowed borrowers who met all other qualifications for the program except for their payment plans to be considered for forgiveness. The Act, however, only allows a certain total amount to be forgiven and once that figure is met—on a first-come, first-served basis—the program will end.

A lot......

Some where not.  My branch was one of the banks picked to enter the loan application and if approved, could issue the check.  There were strict rules, and I've helped a few who missed emails and were in default. The email had to be re-sent to a active email account and they had to produce documents of how it was spent or they would have to start paying it back.

Again- night and day from student loan forgiveness.

So he expanded it. I was correct.

Also, the cost of the TEPSLF was $700 million dollars, which ain't chump change but it's well south of a trillion plus that biden put out.  Looks like Trump compromised / caved on this one.

I definitely don't agree with anyone having debt relieved when they're very capable of paying it off, like yourself.

Were you ok when Trump's daughter and son in law had their PPP loan forgiven?

Don't know their particular circumstances but when the government unnecessarily forces a business to shut down and stay shut down then yeah, I would expect them to fix the problem they actually created.

Are you ok with it being forgiven?

There’s no comparison between PPP and student loans.

I am, as long as they went by rules set forth by their government.  Just because it’s a Trump makes no difference.  You could have paid your loan back that you voluntarily agreed to, businesses that were shut down had no choice, so I have no problem with government taking care of a problem it created.

You chose to default on a loan the you asked for, there is no comparison between the two.

She keeps throwing out “whataboutisms” trying to justify her thievery. It isn’t working.
