jdawg03 Posted June 24, 2006 Report Posted June 24, 2006 According to the website alexa.com, which ranks every website in the world based on traffic, we have higher rankings than anyone in the state that covers only hs sports, outside of the rivals and scout networks, which the data isnt given....this information is based on all of the websites I could think of that cover hs sports in texas...Unless I missed someone, this information is correct... As far as Southeast Texas goes, we are #6 behind Southeasttexas.com, KFDM, BMT Enterprise, KBTV, and the Orange Leader... This is great news and I just want to give thanks to all you guys who have made this possible..We anticipate more great things to come!!
Guest GoStangs Posted June 24, 2006 Report Posted June 24, 2006 That's awesome! I just typed in a few other sites, and it is impressive to see where this site ranks in comparison to others (traffic-wise): This site is ranked 379,619 in the world. Here are a few others and their traffic rankings: Smoaky.com: 3,338,839 South Central Texas High School Sports: 648,796 5A Texas Football: 1,396,193 Dave Campbell Football Magazine: 570,286 Texas HS Football: 912,205
KFDM COOP Posted June 25, 2006 Report Posted June 25, 2006 The lower the number the better. Several Companies and businesses use this across the Country.
Guest GoStangs Posted June 25, 2006 Report Posted June 25, 2006 Alexa.com is a major company with a strong reputation for what they do. This is definitely a good indicator of how popular the site is. What's impressive to me is that this site has only been around for less than 1 year. You just know that once football season rolls around the popularity of this site will go through the roof. JDawg, too bad you're not selling stock in the site, because if you were, this would definitely be one of the hottest commodities in SETX!
X Man Posted June 25, 2006 Report Posted June 25, 2006 If this is the #1 site, where is the link to High School Soccer? Did I overlook it?
X Man Posted June 25, 2006 Report Posted June 25, 2006 Oh, I see it. But it is just listed as general talk about soccer, not just area high school soccer.
WOS87 Posted June 25, 2006 Report Posted June 25, 2006 That is awesome! :thumbsup Not to be a downer (but hopefully to avoid overconfidence and complacency) you have to realize that Alexa.com only uses the last 3 months of activity in compiling their rankings which is probably why this site has done so well compared to many other sites. This is one of the few sites that doesn't focus primarily on football, and with the coverage we've had here of the area baseball and softball races, and with the success several local teams have had, it doesn't surprise me that we've done well. The real test will be on how the site does from now through December when the football season gets going. You can adjust the data at the alexa website to show numbers going back 1 year or 2 years and you can see that several of the sites listed above that we're currently ranked ahead of have had huge numbers of traffic during football season and then drop off of the charts the rest of the year.
KFDM COOP Posted June 25, 2006 Report Posted June 25, 2006 When the site was put up in late December even when football was pretty much over it was huge even then. Hard to imagine what it will be like come football season this Fall. We haven't even really started plugging the site alot on kfdm yet but that will begin soon.
KFDM COOP Posted June 25, 2006 Report Posted June 25, 2006 The traffic for baseball was off the charts the last 3 months.
Guest GoStangs Posted June 25, 2006 Report Posted June 25, 2006 It's even more impressive, at least to me, the numbers are so high during this time of year, especially when you consider all other local forums (most of which have boards for various sports) were active during this time. For whatever reason, this site has achieved an enormous amount of popularity, and I think the potential for growth is still there.
WOSgrad Posted June 25, 2006 Report Posted June 25, 2006 I am glad that I am able to get up on alexa and find a SE texas site (actually a Golden Triangle site) at the top of the sheet!!!! I guess it is a testiment of how we love our sports in the area, no matter how hard we stray away from it.
jdawg03 Posted June 25, 2006 Author Report Posted June 25, 2006 These rankings do not take into consideration our forum traffic at all....this is strictly based on the website....
Guest GoStangs Posted June 25, 2006 Report Posted June 25, 2006 Like you said, Grad, it's great to see the success of this website (and I guess that means actually competing against other experienced commercialists who use a "ranking booster"). You are right -- the high ranking is a testament to the fan base in the area and their love of local sports.
