BC vs. Pine Tree

The passing offense has been absolutely dreadful lately with too many turnovers, bad QB play, and the OL got absolutely manhandled by Huffman.

Running game has been BCs strength all season. If their offense can get Sumrall rolling early, I can see the defense creating a couple turnovers to make this game close.

I have a feeling the offense will continue to struggle to generate points and rely too much on the passing game. Defense should be capable of keeping it within 2-3 scores.

Overly Optimistic: BC wins a close thriller

Realistically: Pine Tree wins by 2-3 scores

If BC's defense can stop the run, PT's offense struggles throwing the football. They are a downhill running team, with the play action deep ball over the top. Now their WRs can Fly, its just whether or not the Back up can distribute the ball.

BC has trouble stopping the run against similar sized opponents. I believe even Livingston(0-10) rushed for over 200 on them

Livingston, Huffman, HJ, and LCM all had good games on the ground vs BC. I worry about the run defense considering Pine Tree is run heavy and will be leaning on the run if their starting QB is truly out. While they do struggle against the run, BC is still scrappy on defense overall. If Pine Tree becomes 1 dimensional on offense, I think BC will be able to adjust. I am hoping they can force a couple turnovers. Regardless, they have to have a good game offensively. It will be a long night if they can't capitalize on their possessions/takeaways.

It seems like everyone on these forums is down on D10. LCM, BC, and Hargraves all have very good looking kids and decent records. What do yall know that I don't?

East Texas football... 9-4A is a completely different animal.  9-4A has kids go to Alabama, UT, and other big D1 schools.  10-4A has kids go to Juco.

Strength of schedule. 1 of 3 played pre district teams of substance. 2nd place team was forced to drop a quality opponent due to the volume of opted up teams. BC wouldn't even be in this conversation if they did not opt up seeking weaker opponents and a playoff birth.

BC scheduled 3 3A teams pre-district, and only one of them was even good for 3A.  HH's pre-district was slightly better, but still against very weak 4A schools.  LCM actually scheduled a decent pre-district schedule, and didn't look terrible.  Weather helped them keep it close against HF, and the silsbee result was respectable as well. Vidor hasn't won a game against a team with more than 3 wins.  Realistically, I think HH and LCM have pretty good teams.  BC is decent.  But when you have a district where all the quality wins on the year are against each other, and nobody is really THAT good to begin with, it's hard to be optimistic with the matchups coming out of east texas.

For me personally, I follow y'all's district with quite a bit of interest, so I'm well-versed in the difference between the two groups.  I went to college in Marshall, still hunt outside Jefferson (Avinger), and my college roommates both graduated from Pine Tree.  So i always keep up with East Texas football in all divisions.

yeah, that doesn't bode well when you consider the jump in size/ability that they'll be facing in PT.

    • And I get that too.  But there's no guarantee that weather won't factor in the week or two before the state championship game for some schools.  Especially for the extreme North teams.  I'm sure outside weather in Austin Tx in December is like a walk on the beach for Canadian High School compared to up there. I'm an "Ice Bowl" type fan.. weather is just part of it.  But I still like it at Cowboys stadium.. nothing to do with inside/outside.  But because it's the nicest field in the state.
    • It's called an Outlaw schedule. West Hardin did it for travel purposes and not competition. They were put in a district up north that was just too strenuous on the school budget.
    • My sons and I have been doing a football podcast for the past couple of seasons where discuss and recap football from all levels, with a heavy lean toward TXHSFB. It's a great way for us to spend time together centered around something all of us love and get excited about, while also helping them learn a useful skill for life as they grow into young men. This week, we have scored a couple of really big interviews, and I wanted to share the link with you all just in case anyone was interested in giving it a listen. The interviews and scheduled releases are listed below.  Huffman Falcons HFC and AD Joey Buchta - 11/13 Huffman Falcons Jr. QB Nolan Cook - 11/14 Episodes will be live on Spotify and Apple Podcasts sometime during the evenings on the two dates. If you are a coach or player and would be interested in appearing on the podcast, please send me a PM here on the site and we can set it up. Please like and subscribe to the show to get alerts when the conversations are available for you to listen. Happy Football!! Look us up in the Spotify or Apple Podcasts apps if you are interested in listening, I am not able to make links post on the site!!
    • Orangefield steamrolled their entire district besides Coldspring. I feel like they are getting better at running the spread each passing week, and I don't see Fairfield stopping them. Orangefield by 3 TDs
    • A few years back one of the Hardin schools, maybe West Hardin, opted out of their UIL District and any chance of making the playoffs but still played football. They made their own schedule. I forget what it is called when a team does this but that should be the move for Cleveland. At 6 A they will never make the playoffs, so why not lower your competition and give yourself a chance to not get 70 scored on you everytime you play.
