png9mon Posted November 11 Report Posted November 11 Nederland must be able to score. The only chance they have is to match Texas High score for score. That being said, I will not be surprised if the Bulldogs find a way too hang in this one to the end. COME ON DOGGIES DO YOUR BEST!!! Quote
Kwood95 Posted November 11 Report Posted November 11 Tall task , it will be closer than people think , lets go Dogs !! Quote

I watched the Huntsville game and was impressed with the Nederland running back. I saw a nominal passing game, which was effective as a “surprise” element against a secondary focused on the run. IF Texas High gets a couple touchdown lead going in the 4th quarter, I question the ability of Nederland to come back against the Tiger secondary. If Nederland can keep it close, then who knows. Huntsville was also a run first team and had success against the Bulldog defense. How the Bulldogs deal with the Tiger wide open offense will be a test. Texas High averages over 500 yds per game which are evenly distributed between the run and pass. Tigers have three good running backs and don’t have one “go to” receiver. Key for the Tigers is to limit the number of explosive plays by #1 and stop several drives each half. No matter what, I suspect this will be a good first round challenge for both teams. It is understood that Nederland is not a normal 4 seed. Quote

Our entire district has been playing playoff style football the last several weeks. This could also be an advantage playing a team like Texarkana. Texarkana hasn't been hit in the mouth for over a month now. Friday, they will feel several blows. Ned's coaching staff will have them ready. Quote
Eazy Posted November 11 Report Posted November 11 Over the last 4 weeks, Nederland played one score games against each of their Top 4 District competitors. It’s felt like a playoff every week. That should help them in this matchup. I’m sure Texas High will be ready for them. The long travel also favors Texarkana. It could be a very close game, or Texas may roll them. Quote

spidersal Posted November 11 Report Posted November 11 Texas High will not get hit in the mouth this week either. Why because Nederland has a very poor defense. Look for Texas High to score at least 42. 38 to LC, 44 to Huntsville, and28 in the 4th quarter to Montgomery and 34 total. They have played 2 decent defensive games WOS and PNG. Lumberton was so bad that doesn’t count So let me see that would be 7 games with poor defense especially the last 2 I am going to say Tr as High 42 and Nederland 21 Quote
1989NDN Posted November 11 Report Posted November 11 Nederland, run the ball with Thomas over and over again. Limit the possessions of Texas High. I've never seen an offense score points when standing on the sidelines. Run the ball, run the ball some more, play a clean game with no TOs or personal foul penalties, and keep the game close. If the game is close with four minutes to go, roll the dice and see what happens. Quote
NHSBulldogFan Posted November 11 Report Posted November 11 I've seen enough Texas High games now to say this David Potter is the real deal if you don't bring pressure he will drop back and hurt you with his arm Texas High has weapons all over the field including his TE who had 155 yards vs. Jacksonville only playing 3 quarters...Nederland has to have long sustained drives in order to have a shot here Quote
rvbulldogs Posted November 12 Report Posted November 12 Might have a chance as long as the backup QB doesn’t play. Quote
grayhair777 Posted November 12 Report Posted November 12 Nederland will not win this game if they do not improve special team play, special teams have cost them all season and linebackers that don’t react to the ball or give up on plays, improve this and you may have a chance. Quote
Mav01 Posted November 12 Report Posted November 12 TBH, unless THigh squats again, I didnt see any of district 8 teams going to Grim and coming out with a dub. Not a diss, that's just how tough it will be for a long drive to Grim. Probably the best offensive unit the Tigers have had in forever. The defense is good but I think they've had a couple better in the past 6 years or so. Quote
Eazy Posted November 12 Report Posted November 12 Well, a 5-5 Terrell team made the drive and won 2 years ago. Quote
A BUC 77 Posted November 12 Report Posted November 12 It seems the offense has progressed. The Defense needs to step up. I say, let's use some players both ways. I don't like it but hey, you do what you have to do. bulldawg64 1 Quote

1970 Posted November 13 Report Posted November 13 Nederland has a long way to go and a short time to get there, both literally and figuratively. PNG also, figuratively at least. Quote
A BUC 77 Posted November 13 Report Posted November 13 I think we are going to be surprised Friday. A long trip on a nice bus. Playoff atmosphere. The want to ruin Texas High's parade. Focus guys, focus. Lamar1996 and bulldawg64 2 Quote
png9mon Posted November 13 Report Posted November 13 If I was a Nederland Fan going to Texarkana on Friday, and had kids in school, I would take-off work & let them stay home. Leave early morning, stop & enjoy eating, walk around & then get to stadium early & well rested. It will be hard on kids to get up for school, get out on early release, make a rush trip, go to game, get home early Saturday morning & try to rest. Just sayin' Come on Bulldogs, show Texas High what the Golden Triangle teams are capable of doing! Quote
Gocats90 Posted November 13 Report Posted November 13 Don’t write Ned off… I say dogs keep it close, and if not win. Quote
Eazy Posted November 13 Report Posted November 13 Ned has a chance for sure. We’ve heard how good Texas is since they joined this Region. Crosby beat an undefeated Texas High two years in a row and then Terrell beat them 1st round. So, Texas has found a way to stumble. Maybe Texas overlooks the 4 seed. If Ned brings their A game, it will be close. Quote
