eh, to an extent. I think other coaches understand, and without a doubt respect what they're doing, but once you take that job and do absolutely nothing with it (because it's near impossible) why would anyone take a chance on your for another head coaching job? just because other coaches understand doesn't mean the school board will when they look at your job application and that 1-29 record.

Understood. Did not sway Liberty school board. Therefore, working at Cleveland does not necessarily “torpedo your chances to be hired elsewhere”.

The demographics are polar opposite and the corresponding challenges that go with them. Also Splendora did not add 800 students in 2 years.

Splendora had experienced organic growth whereas Cleveland experienced artificial and accelerated growth. Splendora has a supportive tax base whereas Cleveland has an adversarial tax base at war with the offending developer of the artificial growth.

Growth in Splendora is similar to New Caney. The situation in Cleveland is unprecedented in American history.

Will splendora ever go back to 4a?

I don’t imagine Splendora will. I can see Cleveland dropping if they split and create a new high school in Colony Ridge/ Plum Grove.

I heard that is exactly what they're doing... I've seen the proposal for a new high school in that area but they're still in the development stages for now.  Give it 3-4 years and I'm pretty sure it will be a school there.

Also understood.  i'll give you that IF you are able to accrue several years of college coaching experience, don't stay at Cleveland for too long, and aren't the head coach ruining your career record, you can still be hired by a traditionally bad program.

On the money.

Splendora and Cleveland are apples and oranges. Heck more like apples and carrots.

I wouldn't be surprised if the government moved them to other places.  This is being one reason why Coldspring may move back up to 4A-D2 soon and don't be surprised if Shepherd becomes 4A-D1 or 5A-D2.

Coldspring is nowhere near 4AD2. Lost enrollment last realignment. Shepherd is more likely to go back to 3AD1 once the current freshman class passes through. The freshman class at Shepherd is drastically larger than any other class.

They should drop football.  I have a running list in my head of schools that should stop playing

If they did that they could very well be the only 6A in the state that didn't play football. Or at least one of three or four at the most.

Just don't see that happening.

I think I saw 3 6A's that don't during re-alignment, so it's not a foreign concept.  But I know football is king in Texas but sometimes a wise man, or in this case, community, knows it's limitations

No sir... Coldspring had some more move there this past year (trust me I know) unless the move up the reglinement after the 2026 season Coldspring will most likely be moving back to 4A

Coldspring enrollment dropped to 500 last year. No chance they will become 4AD2 unless the cut drops from 544.

4A cutoff is 545 for this last realignment. Coldspring is at 500.

So you think Coldspring will pick up 60 or more in enrollment by next alignment?

Most non coaches look strictly at wins and losses however that is not entirely correct. there are many great coaches that are in situations where winning is extremely difficult and there are places where coaches don’t necessarily have to be great coaches but have great talent. To say any coach that is in a place that is struggling and saying they are bad coaches is not accurate. We are banging Cleveland pretty hard but I will bet their issues are more dna than program.
