Texarkana Texas (56) vs Nederland (14) - FINAL

Nederland lost by 47 points in the first round last year and only lost by 42 this year. Improvement is improvement. 😀

But seriously, I do believe the program will continue on an upward trend the next few years.

Coach Rich and assistants need to have an excellent offseason after a nice 7-4 season. I don’t know how many juniors are returning, however the JV and freshman teams did well. Hopefully there is some talent there

It appeared to me that the backup QB and RB have a chance to do well if they are not seniors. The OL could be good if they were not seniors. I thought the defensive line was ok

I do like the offensive scheme similar to Katy’s. I certainly think he knows what he is doing on offense and the offensive staff did a good job. The defensive staff did not do a good job imo.  I know a lot of it has to do with a lack of talent and being slow, but also very soft. I watched every game and besides having an ok DL and #6, they were extremely weak

Obviously the staff will evaluate the season and know what should be addressed and hopefully have a good offseason. One major thing that has to get better is the mouthing and late hit personal foul penalties

I certainly like the hire and am looking forward to the Bulldogs getting back to being a very competitive team. They will be in this tough district at least 1 more year

Nederlands arrow us headed up. Huge turnaround this season. Nederland is going to be very good soon.

Pretty sure Ned's DC was in his first year as such. He was a position coach last year if I'm not mistaken. I believe he brought a special teams guy in also, don't think that worked out too well. I'd be willing to bet some changes will be made now that he has a year under him to evaluate things. Rich has done a good job imo....Congrats to the Dogs.

That Special Teams coordinator was on several of Katy's State Championship teams he knows what he's doing but it was an up and down year i think we see improvement next year with a full off-season in place

I thought the special teams coach was also a coordinator but didn't wanna speak out of turn. Something has to change in that area.

The special teams coordinator is also in charge of all the offseason workouts. From my understanding he was Katy High school offseason head guy in charge of workouts/strength and conditioning and he resumed that role here. Pretty big grab to get a guy like that… ready to see a full offseason under this regime and the newness for the most part has worn off ready for the coaches and players roll up there sleeves and get to work.

The dogs exceeded my expectations this year and they were competitive in every game up until that playoff game. I thought coach Rich did a great job in his first season as our leader and took ownership when things didn’t go well. I think the dogs have the right guy to get them to the next level. Hoping for a great offseason and building up this program to an even better spot than scary Larry had it.

Well, it's looking like PNG vs Texarkana next week.

PNG matches up well against Texas High.  I’m currently watching the game right now.  Gonna be a slugfest, but a game PNG can win.  I don’t think any team in north Texas knows how to play defense so Texas High scores at will.  PNG will definitely be prepared and will hit them in the mouth which probably hasn’t happened all year to TH.

I hope PNG plays with the same intensity as they did last night.

PNG doesn’t really play good defense, they can play some ball control, but Texas High will light up that PNG secondary

    • naw, maaaaybe 7, definitely not 8 deep.  today im avoiding sitting by #10s parents, had to move away yesterday.   "put my son back in jub, put my son back in"  and then crying on every little touch of someone.    lets ball out today ktz!
    • Very close game until the 2nd half (mostly the 4th) when Orangefield came unraveled. Worse defensive effort I have seen out of the Bobcats in three years. This team has to get back on D and quit getting beat over the top when pressing. Offensively, non ball handlers continually turn it over and their shot selection is poor. Basic basketball, such as: defensive hustle, boxing out, and taking care of the basketball are the areas the Bobcats need to work on most. Whitmire will get them on point, but he shouldn't have to coach effort at the Varsity Level.  We'll be at McnNeese this Friday night at 6pm.
    • I don’t benefit from it, that’s not my area.  But the average cost to imprison someone is around $15k per year (on average in the US) and capital cases cost somewhere between $1.5-$3M with over half being overturned or reduced to life in prison anyway.  These numbers may be inflated since the last report I read but I’m sure it would be on both sides and higher on the DP side if anything. So what’s the point?  We feel better because we got to return the favor on someone (hopefully) who committed a heinous crime?  And I don’t know I can say we have “complicated” it. Which appeal should we cut out?  Our justice system has a pecking order and we have higher courts for a reason. When we are about to impose the ultimate judgment, should we cut steps that other cases have to save a buck?  Or do we not pay for an indigent person’s experts at the trial court level because it’s too expensive? Or do we just lock them up and throw away the key (unless we later find out they weren’t actually guilty, in which case we have a key and a life we haven’t unjustly ended) and save a ton of money?  Seems to me to be an easy and obvious solution but I’m more of a pragmatist.
    • 1 thing for certain. Coach Earned 3 more years to figure it out lol
