Woodville: 9-2 runner up out of D12

Grand Saline: undefeated DC out of D9

Any thoughts on this area round playoff match up?

Cal prep has Grand Saline by 4. After this game they will be called Saline. Go Eagles.

Judging by each teams performance majority of the season that seems about right. Woodville seems to be stepping it up a notch here lately though. We'll see. I think the main advantage we have is depth. The majority of GS's starters play both sides

Woodville must control the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball, limit mistakes & minimize GS making explosive plays and they should be fine. As I’ve said before, I can’t really trust their play calling and clock management. Today is Sunday so keeping the faith is the goal!

For Woodville to win, they must play flawless football. Grand Saline can score in a variety of ways, making them an unpredictable squad. Even though Woodville has the advantage, it will probably be a competitive game. In my opinion.

He has done well considering the lack of experience. His speed is now getting him noticed by the Big 10 and SEC. Even our friends in Newton are impressed with his progress. Everyone is expecting a rematch with Newton. Time will tell.

Grand Saline is not Newton. A loss will only extend historical outcomes.

One game will not change the historical outcome. It has a lot to do with Newton being in the state finals 7 times, about 77 straight district wins etc… same for WO-S, Carthage, etc. you might start by winning your own district.

The only thing I disagree on is 1 game would be historic because Woodville has never made it past the second round no matter how much talent they have. Having said that I agree with everything you say, which is why the only outcome that is acceptable is a rematch with Newton in the playoffs and their defeat.

Gametime approaching. 7:30 pm in Rusk Texas. Will it be a historic year for the eagles or will it just be another area round exit? There are lots of possible outcomes. GS likes to run a read option type offense between QB #5 and RB #19. #3 out wide is also very dangerous though. He's a lengthy and athletic guy who might be the best wide out we've seen all year. The defense has good size in the front 7 and #5 and #3 are the anchors in the secondary.
