What’s the timeline hire before semester end or extend into January? Coaches still in playoffs or go from a pool whose done?

Very good question.

You would think they would want to get someone in place ASAP.

However, they might miss out on a good hire if they move too fast.

Definitely a quandary.

Deadline to apply is December 22, start date is January 6.

Livingston is moving fast.

Probably the best thing for the program.

One name keeps popping up in and around Livingston and it is NOT RR.

Hire the man that wants to be there and let him go to work.

Is this individual you are talking about the best available?

Obviously, nobody knows the answer to this question, because nobody knows who has or will apply.

Also, this is a loaded question. Just because this individual does not have the best "record" does not mean he is not the best available or more importantly the BEST FIT.

I do know this individual is a pretty good football coach who has done more with less in the past.

To speak to your point.... Or your usual point.....

Can this individual win a State Championship within 7 years?

Yes, yes he can, as long as the talent is there, he can win.

“Hire the man that wants to be there and let him go to work.”

This was your last sentence.  Hence my question about being the best available.  This is not the criteria when hiring someone.

Of course you want as good a coach as you can get.

However, hiring a quality coach that really wants to be a long-term solution and establish a culture and program that the community can be proud of should have a bearing on the decision.

Wanting to be in a town like Livingston and wanting to stay in a town like Livingston should make a modicum of difference in who is hired. Weeding out candidates that simply want to use Livingston as a stepping stone is a must. Avoid the 2 year cycle.

Not sure how much community connections will matter in this hire since they are using a firm to do the hiring. Most likely the coach with the best resume will get the job. My money is on someone that has been a HC at multiple locations with some success. May workout or may not.

You very well may be correct.

However, I think the school sets some parameters. The school has some things they are looking for in their next coach. If I'm not mistaken, the school can ask for qualified candidates with ties to the community be ¹given priority in earning an opportunity to interview.

There's a coordinator in Aldine I'd think would help Livingston. But why leave Nimitz? Idk.

One thing about using a search firm, no one will probably ever know who all applied or who even interviewed.  There will be no sightings at the Administration Building until the School Board meeting the day he is announced.

Yes! Avoid the 2 year cycle, and also be vigilent of hiring a good old boy, re-tread coach just wanting to comfortably ride along and collect more paychecks before retiring.

Amen!!

Experienced enough to know the ropes, young enough to get the kids excited to compete, progressive enough to get the athletes to play and with a willingness to not only "right the ship" but to keep captaining the boat for the foreseeable future.

I mean... it's not like they're gonna be successful regardless.

Judson Pritchard:  "Are the Lions gonna win this game tonight?!!!"

Lion Student body:  "Well, HELL NO!!!!!"

We will agree to disagree on this one.

I've always wondered why there are so many Livingston haters out there?

I mean, what have the Lions ever done to you?

Unfortunately for Livingston unless they turn in some crazy low numbers*, they just don't have the cats or lions to run with 4AD1....and they're closer to being 5AD2 than 4AD2 based on what they turned in. Honestly, whoever they pick up has no pressure. Just get them to 4th and in the playoffs and they'll name the new field after him.

I doubt they would want to be in the 4AD2 district either, would probably just opt back up like some of their other district comrades.

Not many 4AD1 districts that are weaker. If they get the right coach they will be more than able to compete.

This is a fact.

Wasn't the District swept in the 1st round?

District Champion LCM got beat 49-21 by 4th place Lindale (6-6) who is not a football juggernaut.
