So you are essentially accusing BH of recruiting

Nah, I’m sure they’re clean as a Preacher’s sheets and there’s not a one of those 100 GCCISD kids BHISD gets in every year that’s an athlete.  I mean, we’ll know for sure past August because UIL is placing one of their own to look over things in any DEC with a lot of transfers and if there’s one thing BHISD has it’s a lot of transfers.

So you say Nah , not throwing accusations and turn around and make the accusation again.

So this is the ANGLE Goose Creek Athletics will take now.   Accuse districts of recruiting their athletes and blame that of why they are not very good

REL was 6-4 this season, doing all right in 5A-2.  No lie, though, transfers out hurt GCCISD athletics BAD and it’s all sports, not just football.  I posted the transfer numbers already and those are straight from GCCISD.  I’m no District employee and don’t speak for them, GCCISD made all the info I’ve posted public knowledge ahead of the school consolidations and attendance zone changes they’re going to have to get done this coming Summer, but it’s obvious looking at those numbers what’s going on and again, it’s not like Barber’s Hill is the only one who does this.  ALL the successful programs draw in kids from surrounding districts and the real Big Dawgs have drawn in a few from a lot further than that over the years.  It’s just going to get a bit harder to do that after next season, that’s all.

So 10 years from now GCCISD will say that Little Johnny or Little Susie was in GCCISD in kindergarten and transferred to BH or DP.

GCCISD trying to make excuses

10 years? Heck. Two years from now it might be because of school choice passing…😬

(And it can’t be Susie or Johnny. It must be 2 purple unicorns.)

In all seriousness, with school choice probably passing—which I’m not saying is a bad thing for educating the kiddos—and NIL, we may be seeing the end of TXHSFB as we know it now soon anyway.

It’s been awhile, but I seem to remember 5 D starters out & 2 O starters out (OL). A big difference is that Simon wasn’t involved yet. He’s totally changed LP’s rushing attack from last year as a bruising, explosive addition to Barnes, Sandolph & Bright. Last year—and early this season—LP was missing that element.

Now, Coach Berneathy is not making talented players wait like many other coaches & even his predecessors at LP. If the kid can produce at the varsity level, they’re moved up. And man, has Simon produced! Over 1200 yards & 20 TD’s in less than a full season so far! It’s allowed LP to alternate RB’s where Barnes doesn’t take all the pounding. Barnes and Sandolph are also able to split out as receivers as desired to add threats that weren’t really an option last year.

The PNG/LP game was a full-on tilt & good for both squads. I remember Gary Joseph in the end zone giving his son pointers as an extra set of eyes since he’d had experience with LP in past PO matchups. That was a good game. The score wasn’t really indicative of the game. Not sure anyone felt it was over until the final whistle!

Good luck to y’all in Cajun Country. Bring back a win for SE Texas. (Yes. La Porte is still SETX. Ha!)

I didn't see the halftime end zone meet up, but I heard that the DC McDaniel and Coach J. were there talking at the end of the 1st half. McD was in the press box rather than sideline for the first few games.  I hadn't heard of Gary J. being there until your post.

Which one is which?  LP is Open Enrollment and although BH is technically “closed” by GCCISD’s own admission BH has taken twice as many GCCISD transfers than DP, LP, or NS just in this past year.  A LOT of these transfers have been happening in Jr High to avoid PAPF/eligibility questions which is why UIL is tightening things up on transfers between 8th and 9th grades starting in Aug plus sending a UIL rep to observe DEC meetings of Districts with high numbers of transfers in/out.ar.

That should tell everyone something pretty clearly. Does anyone really think BH is recruiting elementary kids, to get them to transfer in Jr. high? Seriously? Here is the "dirty little secret" about BH: Most people move to the district for a quality living environment to raise their young family, and benefit from the outstanding acedemics at BH. Even If all athlectics suddenly disappeared from BH, people would still want their kids in the district. If thats not enough to convince anyone, and BH really was determined to recruit, first step would be to have open enrollemnt. It is closed.

Yes, I get it, no one ever wants to give BH the benefit of the doubt on anything. Some of the accusations are beyond ridiculous though. This paranoia the BH critics are afflicted with is not just sad, its flat out laughable.

Been around a few years. I’ve always heard that BH was very good academically. Honestly, sports wasn’t really brought up as a first evaluation criteria.

If I was a parent in a large metro area (and Baytown is pretty good size), I’d be looking to send my kids to a surrounding district as well just due to the academics alone. The last ‘report card’ I saw didn’t reflect that well on GCCISD in general compared to neighboring districts other than GPISD.

BHISD, DPISD, and LPISD were all rated much higher.
