Truth hurts, don’t it?  Like I said, anyone who wants to can do a little digging online and see exactly what programs GCCISD 8th grade athlete standouts end up at.

All of the players that would likely make a great football team are out by GCM and Sterling. If GCM had Lee's coach and dropped back down into 5A division 1, they would be able to compete very well against BH and LP. Lee still beat them both this year and was sort of a down year by Lee's standards. Lot of injuries some kids moved out of district and they are paper thin as it is.

You’re using old data. Also, use the data from the actual source—TEA.

As of 21/22 (latest because of lawsuits), BHISD & DPISD are both ‘A’ rated. GCCISD & LPISD are both ‘B’ rated. But, both have a higher 4 year graduation rate than Deer Park ISD at 94 & 93% compared to 90%. (How the ratings system works in light of that is interesting in itself.) LPISD’s rating also factors in DeWalt. DeWalt is the school for special needs. Not aware of either of the other districts having a designated school for special needs. But, I may be wrong.

Yes. Demographics make a big difference. DPISD & BHISD are very similar. Won’t get into the details. People can figure that out on their own. GCCISD & LPISD are similar.

LPISD teachers have a longer tenure rate than the other districts, and a lower teacher to student ratio. Makes sense being a smaller district.

None of this affects transfers for athletic purposes. But, it does have an impact on where a parent may want their child to attend school.

Meanwhile, I need to start a thread on LP/AMC. All the computers & experts have AMC taking the win. Looking at some of the stats I can find—and video—I’m not sold it’s going to be as easy a game as people think for AMC.

GCM is dropping down from 23-6A back down to 5A in ‘26.  GCCISD is redrawing attendance zones to make sure of that.  At the same time, BH was only about 100 students under the 6A threshold last time UIL drew districts so BH is definitely going up to 6A when those maps get redrawn, probably right into the empty spot in 23-6A GCM is leaving when they drop down.

I can guarantee that if what you’re saying about Baytown kids coming here for sports is true, they aren’t moving into Riceland. Go look at the price of those homes.

BHISD isn’t all Riceland, there’s plenty of cheaper houses, trailer parks, RV Parks, etc and I hear there’s Apartment Complexes going in soon.  Also, you don’t even have to move there as long as you’ve got a MeeMaw or Auntie in BHISD zone, you just sign an affidavit that your kid is living with MeeMaw or Auntie and they’re in.  Don’t take my word for it, I already posted GCCISDs numbers showing twice as many GCCISD kids are transferring to BHISD than to the other surrounding Districts, 100+ per year.  If only 10% of those are for athletic purposes that’s 10 athletes a year minimum and I’m willing to bet it’s a little higher.

 

What’s also true and the point I was trying to make there is that as Riceland fills up it’s definitely going to change BHISD.  Those homes start at $500k and run up past $1M.  Gonna be a lot less “Country” and a lot more White Collar.

Take a look at this chart.  It shows how many kids per year transfer outside of the District WHILE LIVING IN GCCISD DISTRICT.  They reside within GCCISD, but attend school outside of it.  These numbers are straight from TEA.

“TEA maintains data on students living in Goose Creek CISD who attend other public schools”,

So we’re not even talking about kids whose families move or who use MeeMaw’s address.  That’s 100+ per year who still live in GCCISD and hitch a ride out to BHISD and back each day.  A lot of cars in that car rider line out of Baytown.  You think at least 10% of them aren’t athletes?  Maybe more like 20%?  C’mon, man, it’s plain to see and like I’ve been telling other folks ALL the successful programs do it.  It’s just gonna get a LITTLE harder to do it after 8/1/25, that’s all.  Won’t stop it, might not even slow it down much, but it’s gonna affect things a bit.

After that work you put in, we don’t care. BH made the playoffs before any Baytown kids came around in all sports. Anyways, think this thread has went long enough off course.
