FearTheSpear Posted December 2 Report Posted December 2 I think we had around 25k there for a playoff game between Lufkin and Longview back in 03, that was nuts. Rob Corpus 1 Quote

If it comes down to a 1 score game, PNG has the most outcomes with a win. SOC had a weaker schedule, not counting their non-district games, making them look better than they are, but not saying that they aren’t a powerhouse. And their big wins over subpar teams make them overconfident. No doubt, though, we are in the toughest region in 5A D2. One other thing that the Indians have in their arsenal that most other teams don’t is the fans willing to travel long distances filling our side and bringing the noise and dreadful “tomahawk chop”…the 12th man! Weaker schedule or district? north shore? duncanville? longview? Nothing weak about these 3, can’t speak for the other teams they played bullets13 1 Quote

It’s true that overall they haven’t played as many quality opponents as PnG, but they’ve played well when they did. And, they beat a 6A d2 regional finalist Longview team. We’re battle tested too, but SOC is ready for us. bullets13 and Rob Corpus 1 1 Quote
dBerrySports Posted December 2 Report Posted December 2 Strength of district doesn't have much to do with anything once you get to this point of the playoffs. Because for as weak as SOC's district is, they just handled a Huntsville team that: -Only lost to PNG by 3 -Beat Nederland, who beat PNG. Transitive property also doesn't have much to do with the outcome of the upcoming game, just wanted to prove a point. I think SOC wins a close one. But these teams know each other now. It's a playoff rivalry a la North Shore/Duncanville now since they seem to meet annually. Wish I could go to this game, but I don't feel like making that drive. So I'll watch the potential state championship game opponent for either team (Randle v Iowa Colony) Quote

I think both of the Region 3 teams this weekend can easily handle CC Miller or Boerne in the Semifinal game. NHSBulldogFan 1 Quote
Lamar1996 Posted December 2 Report Posted December 2 Should be another great game. More than half of the message board picked PNG to lose last week. We all know what happened there. This week will be no different. Our coaches will have a plan and PNG will win this new Region for the first time. NDNWarrior 1 Quote

And I respect that both teams played against larger and tough teams to help expose their weaknesses before the district schedule started. Quote
navydawg31 Posted December 2 Report Posted December 2 I saw that SFA coach is fired up to host this great game! Kudos to SFA for hosting this game, chance for kids that are on the bubble to play at the next level to showcase their ability as well some that haven’t been on SFA radar can be now and hopefully pick up a offer… Quote

Prairie View really dropped the ball on this one. Both schools wanted to play there but they did not want to host. Makes no sense. navydawg31 1 Quote

Kudos to them. I remember Lamar used to host hs games then stopped… did they ever come around? Quote
Coach_Izzy Posted December 2 Report Posted December 2 Sucks that this game is in the 4th round this year & not a state title trilogy! However whoever wins this one better buckle for the state finals because Richmond Randle is no joke! Mr. Buddy Garrity, tfaas and Rez 2 1 Quote

If Randle makes it to state (highly likely) I think they’re the favorite against whoever makes it out of our side of the bracket. No one is perfect, but their defense is a massive challenge. Not allowing more than 14 points across 13 games is insane for a big school in the spread era, and they’ve played some solid programs. tfaas 1 Quote

I watched the Brenham game and they’re not beating SOC or PNG. Aside from Callis, I wasn’t impressed with them. Brenham controlled the LOS the majority of the game, not having Dixon at RB was the deciding factor. Rez 1 Quote

BADSANTA Posted December 2 Report Posted December 2 I have PNG with the win again. Seems like PNG just knows how to get it done in the playoffs. SOC is battle tested playing North Shore and Duncanville this year. PNG passing game and defense to much. PNG 31 SOC 27 NDNation and NDNWarrior 2 Quote

They haven’t played a team that can lean on you like SOC or PNG this season. Quote

I seem to remember a RB that was a stud for Silsbee but don't remember his name. Anyway, I'm off topic and will ban myself for a couple of days now. Rez 1 Quote
