Separation Scientist Posted December 12 Report Posted December 12 Not so much has been said of the remarkable season Kingwood had. I think after finishing 4th seed people pretty much wrote them off. KW beat Clear Springs, Elkins, and Strake Jesuit before losing to Summer Creek in the 4th round. Awesome year for the "nobody" in the district with NS, Atascocita, and Summer Creek. Kingwood and Woodville are the overachievers of 2024. Great job Kingwood Mustangs! gary-us-bonds, bullets13, Rez and 1 other 4 Quote
Big Daddy Cool Posted December 12 Report Posted December 12 I've said it over and over if Kingwood is in another district they're a second or third place finisher. They may not have thourghbreds like the other Mustangs in their district. But they have given us their best the past couple of seasons. Unfortunately their best just hasn't been enough. Quote
Austin1985 Posted December 13 Report Posted December 13 I wanna see if it's sustainable. Me thinks CE Kang will put Kingwood back with the rest of the midgets in that district Quote

Did they have the leading rusher in the District for the last two years? They have several D1 players on the team. Quote

Perhaps, I know Atascocita beat them by a point. They have quite a few young guns coming up. Will be interesting if they can replace the RB Quote
Separation Scientist Posted December 14 Author Report Posted December 14 Only NS and SC dominated KW, Kingwood came within a point of beating Atascocita. Making the 4th round validates it. Kingwood has the program on the grow. Quote

Matter of fact: I don't remember any threads giving props to CE King during those runs as 4th seed recently. Hmmm... Interesting. Quote

Hmmm... Interesting. So, make one posthumously. I said Kingwood was gonna beat out CEK for the 4 spot at the beginning of the season after LP played them. If UIL does start cracking down on transfers, they’ll be in the mix a lot more every year. I also just have a gut feeling Stump’s clock may be running. He’ll be 60 with at least 20 years, and I don’t see him ever getting past NS. Quote

I sure don't wanna say Kingwood got 4th this year because of transfers. OlDawg 1 Quote

I have been suppoortive of CEK, even attended a game, but the point of the tread is "overachieving", at least thats what I meant. CEK has had lots of weapons to work with, Kingwood seems to be overachieving with what they have on hand. Therefore it was not much of a surprise when athletic CEK did well. I did not mean for this thread to take on some kind of unfortunate overtones. I didn't think stating "Kingwood and Woodville" were the surprise teams of the year would be a problem. Feel free to prop CEK. I'll agree with you. OlDawg 1 Quote
Vini vidi Posted December 14 Report Posted December 14 Is 6a r3 d2 very good? Seems that year in year out you have more talent in the d1 route. Quote

To me, it’s cyclical in 6AR3D2. The talent you see maybe should really be at a D2 school? Theres also a very big gap in sizes of schools/programs between D1/D2 in 6AR3. More so than in some of the other regions. Quite a few ‘mega schools’ in R3. Quote

Just looking at where he’s at as far as age, tenure & possibilities of bettering his record (as far as SC possibilities) as long as he’s going up against NS to progress further. I think he’s probably already cemented a place in the GHA Coaches HOF. Maybe, even more. Don’t know his exact record. But, I think it’s pretty darn good. Don’t mean to veer this away from Kingwood. But, if Stump does retire, it may also help Kingwood as Atascocita would have to adjust for a bit. Quote
Vini vidi Posted December 14 Report Posted December 14 The mega school is real 23-6a could have 4 over 4k enrollment. Numbers matter. Quote
