Call me being picky, but I'd like to see us average in the 90s against teams like Lumberton.

We lost a lot of scoring to graduation last year, and it needs to be at least partially made up with consistency. Any good team will beat Silsbee if we can't reliably get it from kids not named Payton.

Based on this game and the outcomes of other district games I'm revising my opinion and I now believe that Silsbee will definitely go undefeated in district.  None of the other teams can stand up to the withering defense I saw tonight.  If the Tigers had kept up the heat all the way to the wire it would have been around a 44 or 46 point trouncing.  It's true that this wasn't quit as one sided as the 100-49 pasting the Tigers put on Lumberton last year at the Raiders gym but it was in the ballpark.

Lumberton did a good job of containing Jones and they did it without too much fouling.  At times they seemed to be defending him when the Raiders had the ball.  Kind of like a "never let him out of your sight" thing.  The Tigers are going to have to find a little more offense to go deep in the playoffs but they are more than a match for district competition.  I was thinking maybe WOS at their arena or Vidor at Vidor but no, it's not going to happen.

I have stated this from the get go.

Silsbee is not the Silsbee of the last few years but still good enough to go undefeated in this district.

Games will be closer, but I just don't see any of the district teams beating Silsbee.

Johnson out for the season i was told. He broke his clavicle during the Waco LaVega game. I think he would have been around 12-14ppg for sure. Wishing him a speedy recovery. I think Shoulders can be that kid to give Silsbee 15-16ppg behind Jones. Rice will need to be constantly getting 15pts and 12 rebs down low. Silsbee is a smaller team so they will need to start to hit more 3s.

Johnson is not out for season.

He had surgery and should be back mid January.

My bad! I thought you or someone said he maybe out for the year. Great to have him back next month for sure.
