They may be 6A next realignment, but their enrollment now is four classes and not just 2 or 3 like some new schools. Quote

What did he mean by his statement, and what do you mean by yours? I'm just curious. Quote

I could see if Randle only had 2 or 3 classes (no senior class) and not all 4. Then one could say they actually have a potential enrollment of a 6A. But that is not the case. Randle has been open for 3 years and has all 4 classes. Quote
DukeS Posted yesterday at 01:12 AM Report Posted yesterday at 01:12 AM Even if Randle didn’t have all four grades, I don’t see how they could masquerade down as a lower classification. The UIL applies a multiplication factor to the submitted enrollment counts for schools with less than four grades to prevent this. AggiesAreWe 1 Quote

It has been mentioned all season that they will most likely be 6a in the next alignment. But I agree they currently qualify as 5ad2. No different than the other largest schools in any division that have more kids today than the last snapshot number. With the growing population of our great state I'd assume it happens alot more than we think AggiesAreWe and DukeS 2 Quote
gary-us-bonds Posted 10 hours ago Report Posted 10 hours ago I just reviewed those formulas for new schools and my understanding is it only affects the first year or entering into competition. I don't believe any calculation occurs last year when they have already gone through an initial opening calculation three years ago. This is their second alignment. I am not saying they did anything on ourposebut just like George Ranch when they won State, they get the advantage of being a growing school that catches enrollment that gives them 5a division 2 numbers. Those numbers were taken last year. I am sure today they have 6a division 2 numbers enrolled in the school and eligible to play ball. They will get two years of this advantage then likely fade into obscurity like George Ranch did Quote
navydawg31 Posted 8 hours ago Report Posted 8 hours ago I wish UIL could look at each school avg numbers from the year before and a significant increase of kids from say 5A D2 to 6A numbers make them not eligible for the playoffs. Only fair… if they move up just 1 it’s ok. But having numbers that make you jump up 2 classifications isn’t a good look. Quote

Only fair… if they move up just 1 it’s ok. But having numbers that make you jump up 2 classifications isn’t a good look. I have a simpler solution : Don’t do a single day count. Every day, every school in the state counts their attendance and sends that number to the state. That number results in money received from the state. Why not just take the average of those numbers the school has submitted from the beginning of the year up to the end of October? In other words, let’s use the numbers the schools use when they have every incentive for the numbers to be high, rather than have one snapshot day? Having the one snapshot day invites cheating and is a waste of time. The schools and the state already know the numbers the school uses, and the school should have to use that number. Quote
