One thing you could do is look at what they went on to do in college and in the pros.  One name comes to mind.

I can tell you who was perhaps the biggest might have been and I think it's easy.... BB Davis.  I watched him outplay Karl Malone on a couple of occasions, especially that particular game at the Civic Center when we all could have jumped over the roof.  But for various reasons it was not to be.

As an aside, Davis once caused me a bit of embarrassment at a business dinner in Marietta, Georgia.  Alma maters came up and in conversation and I mentioned that I'm a Lamar grad.  It turned out I was dining with a Michigan State grad.  "Lamar?  That's familiar.....  Sure, I know Lamar!  We played you guys back in......"   And yes, he remembered the Dick Enberg interview.

Those were the days though, weren't they?  It was heady stuff, Sweet 16, top 20 ranking, defeated the reigning NCAA champion Villanova at the inaugural game of the then Montagne Center.  We thought the sky was the limit.  And now the arena's name's been sold to a little local credit union.  I guess that too was not to be.
