AggiesAreWe Posted January 6 Report Posted January 6 Let's get a rotation started please. I think this time around, NRG will be better prepared. bullets13, outanup, navydawg31 and 1 other 2 2 Quote
navydawg31 Posted January 6 Report Posted January 6 Rotation for sure! Did SA pass that vote to redo Alamodome and surrounding area? multi day pass at a discount rate would be awesome/ meal deal would be great as well… JJ proud of those prices… the come and go again would be nice have a cooler in the car for drinks and snacks would save some money… The Longhorns and SMU both playing that day was a nasty deal… if SMU had been at home that Saturday attendance would have been even lower imo. I did like the idea someone on here brought up before but separate 1-3A to one weekend 4-6A to another weekend… Quote

Separation Scientist Posted January 7 Report Posted January 7 People don't like the long drive, then you have to pay for lodging 2-3 nights if you want to see them all. Add in $20 parking and $9 cokes and it's not worth it. Could add up to over $500 easily. RETIREDFAN1 and TrojanWarrior08 2 Quote

The D/FW area can't have all the attention on them all the time like that. Some of us Texas High School Football fans want to actually attend some games for state that is corresponding to the city that is close by sometimes. RETIREDFAN1 1 Quote
Separation Scientist Posted January 7 Report Posted January 7 Dallas sure won't have a crowd there. They are not the best fans they don't travel well at all. Quote

I agree there should be a rotation…however I don’t feel there’s a viable solution. If I remember correctly when it got hosted at NRG the attendance number were some of the lowest in history. Quote

It was, you are correct… wanna say that year the Houston area teams possibly swept the DFW area teams too… NRG learned from their mistakes that year. Give them a chance to run it back and host it again… Coach_Izzy 1 Quote

I understand completely but when the state line-up consist mostly of D/FW teams then this is the outcome. If more schools outside of PNG, North Shore, Katy and any of the Richmond teams can at least make it to state I can guarantee more fans will come out and vice versa with teams from the Austin/San Antonio area. Only reason why this is happening is because of Jerry Jones and his billion dollar playpen. Let the McNair's build a stadium out here like that (especially since the Texans are the best team in Texas right now) then Houston would definitely get that much media and attention. Quote

Everybody that I've talked to that stays south of Lufkin they said that they would definitely like it if it was in NRG for travel reasons alone. Quote

Coach_Izzy Posted January 7 Report Posted January 7 I think more of the reason people prefer the Cowboys stadium, is because AT&T is more of an experience for the kids & the fans. I’ll never forget the feeling of walking onto the field there for the first time in 2018 & seeing 50,000+ in the stands along with the gigantic Jumbotron. Versus being at NRG it was just another game when we played there. Sure there needs to be some type of rotation but there’s no other stadium in the state that’s more accommodating than AT&T in my opinion. Most college campuses are a no go now due to the CFP 1st round games & the Alamodome is simply a terrible venue. So where could they possibly host the games? Quote

2wedge Posted January 7 Report Posted January 7 There is no better place to hold the TXHSFB championship weekend than ATT. Numbers will fluctuate depending on the teams involved in the games. I have attended every year, all weekend, since 2011 and have made it a holiday tradition for my family. It is truly the highlight of our year. Does it cost a bunch? Yes. Do I have all year to prepare for that cost? Yes. Is it worth every penny spent? Yes. You'll have the same issues no matter where the games are held if teams that do not travel well, or schools who are fairly new end up in the championships. Quote

Yeah North Crowley was opened in 1998, Richmond Randle a new school. Haven’t had much time to build an alumni. Quote

North Crowley probably had the best individual crowd of anyone at the games.....Westlake's crowds are always mediocre...as was Vandegrift...it was really the 2 5A games that killed the crowds... A BUC 77 Posted January 7 Report Posted January 7 Rotate...The numbers are what they are, numbers. There's not anything wrong with Reliant or The Alamodome. Great venues in my book. Give all Texas HS fans a chance to go experience a State Championship game. If you're from S Texas, you're probably not going to drive to Dallas unless you have a dog in the fight. Quote
Reagan Posted January 7 Report Posted January 7 I've always thought it was about fairness. One time in Dallas and one time in Houston. Swap every other year. Quote
