If he is, I’m sure he is like most coaches, he would like to meet with the kids and try to be first one to tell them…. Not sure that’s possible in today’s world though

Surratt’s phone ringing in 5…..4……3….2……

Barbers Hill Coach was making 175k. Surratt would be taking a pay cut going there unless they would top carthage. Also i feel like Carthage has better athletes than barbers hill

Absolutely spot on about the athletes…..I just remember how surprised the HS football world was when Tom Westerburg left Allen…… but I’m probably wrong

If you count the move ins, you might be right. "Home grown", not a big difference.

Imo Lufkin looks like a better job. If you want money Barbers Hill pays well.  Westerburg didnt  have a Kyler Murry, but did go 11-2 one year at BH. Both coaches im sure are good but they are in a tough division probably need few recruits to get over the hump.

I would agree Lufkin seems like a better job… looks like a more stable situation… not sure I’m correct, but it’s almost like there is a change in the HC/AD at BH like every 4-5 years…. Not sure why

Didn’t see it stated here, or I might have missed it….was it his choice to leave or was he forced out?

It’s gotta be his choice imo…

I was /am generally a fan of Abseck. YES there are some who are not, I get that and respect their opinions, but I see things differently.

He did better that TW while at the helm. Abseck made the playoffs every single year (TW did not) and he had a huge win or two along the way. Absecks team have been plagued by injuries so the team has not had a full strength playoff run lately. Thats was not his fault. I wish him all the best with whatever he does.

As far as the BH job itself, it will attract MANY, MANY qualified candidates from across the state. The pay is great and the tools are there to work with. The future looks just as bright for BH.
