Just called a source and he's telling me said the aforementioned Gator also said thanks but no thanks...if accurate he'd be by my count the 4th guy already to say no thanks

I don’t think he’s a guy that fits the BH culture at all, seems like even less of a politician than the last three guys? I think a great fit for BH would be A&M Consol. coach Brendan Schmidt. Did a heck of a job at Prosper in a good district while he was outgunned and has Consol. rolling. Has done it at different places with talent comparable to what BH has in the class but no titles.

May sound crazy. But, Stump would be an interesting choice. It would be a pay raise, and he knows the area, people and competition. From BH perspective, if they do move to 6A, he has the experience there and in the district they may move into…

Of course, I wouldn’t expect him to be a long term hire. Another 5 year guy.

Wing T on deck for BH!!! May be the only thing those folks would run Poole out of town for.

Idk, the best wing-T man in the Houston area might be available? Just dropped 40 on Atascocita in the 3rd round and would probably love the pay raise? He’s also made the transition smoothly from 5A-D2 to 6A-D1 .  .  .  doesn’t make a title though. Considering BH is approaching what I think is going to be the magic ~ 2,300 number for 6A they might want someone who has experience making the transition?

I think he would be a great hire stylistically but no way you could expect near similar results. During the tenure of the last three coaches I think they’ve signed 3/4 FBS kids total? Atascocita has 3/4 FBS kids in every class on their roster. I think the 6A coaching experience itself might be more valuable though. I think BH will go to the Deer Park district and Crosby will get the North Shore/CE King district when we move to 6A but as it stands right now with the cluster of schools(probably La Porte included) in the area and the current growth rates BH could be playing Atascocita in the first round of the 6A-D2 playoffs after the next alignment. I think Stump is the best candidate possible if that scenario played out?

I think he’s at the stage where he wouldn’t care if the Super wanted him to play his kid, he is also at the stage where politics wouldn’t mean too much to him, and it would stroke the BH Super’s ego to have a ‘big name hire’—which it just seems like he needs by his history.

Stump would get a decent raise, not have to move, and would actually have a good looking young soph QB to work with in his system. The BH QB (left-handed soph I saw in PO’s) could be a game changer given the right coaching staff. Fired off bullets, and left-handed QB’s seem to be hard to deal with for whatever reason.

BH may not have what is at Atascocita. But, their cupboard didn’t look bare.

Hired- Ronnie Gage Lewisville (Evans- Tatum, Sandifer- Abilene Wylie Turned it down)

Hired- Westerberg Allen (Dont know who said no)

Hired- Abseck Cedar Park (Wager Arlington Martin, Riley Dodge turned it down)

So far PNG, Carthage, and Vandergrift have said no!!

That is 1 out of 10 coaches that are from anywhere close to the Houston Area.

Whomever takes this job should have a good nucleus to work with. BH had a ton of Sophomores playing this year, so the JR class looks to be loaded for next year.

Another thing about Stump—positive or negative—is I believe his ex QB son is already helping him send in/call plays. So, there could be a smooth succession plan if the BH Super didn’t get in the way again. If he does, it may be easier to get a new Super than a new pedigreed coach.

Get a good 5 years from Pops, then transition to his son with some continuity. I think Pops is a couple years younger than me, and he still looks like he’s in great shape.

Just a thought…

In my old fart mind, it could make sense for all concerned.

I did see some young men in our game that had some talent. Hope they don’t get discouraged with all of this stuff.

(If they do, LP is open enrollment. 😜)

Those three have a compelling reason to NOT leave where they are already at. All already have really nice gigs.

Yeah, I know that many will want to "see" their recusals as a jab at BH, but I don't think they would be interested in leaving their current positions for anyone. Just my 2 cents.

I tend to agree with you BUT, the word is spreading through the coaching ranks that most do not want to deal with the current admins (Supt) at BH. That is a real thing and not just coach banter.

That’s State wide. Class of 2027 produced some dawgs. Lot of kids from that class are starting on varsity and making noise.

This… saw on twitter where multiple coaches was talking about it on a single post. Might have to find a OC/DC looking for their first gig…

Unfortunately, this is the situation that has been created by the admin at BH. No one wants to uproot their family, move them to BH, just to be removed in a few years for not doing what they are told. Especially with the move to 6A pending, this job is at its absolute least degree of desirability at this very moment. Abseck would've stayed and continued to build for years to come, but alas, that ship has sailed. They were in the same boat many years back when they ran Don Price off but then began the inflated salary technique to lure in big time candidates. Gauge, Westerberg and Abseck later, they find themselves in the same boat with very few chips left to play to lure in a big fish. I have no doubt they'll get a great coach, but the days of hand picking their guy are probably over.

If I’m not mistaken, I think Craig Stump’s brother Chris was an assistant coach at BH several years ago. Not sure how that plays into any decision that may or may not be made though

I definitely agree that those guys are in a spot that a lot of coaches would love to be in at some point in their careers…I don’t really see their recusal as a jab at BH as much as reluctance to work in what sounds like, from the outside, as a pretty toxic atmosphere (was it physical atmosphere or physical speed) from fhe Administration building…. Again, I’m on the outside and not overly familiar with the everyday workings of BH…

What sticks out to me is the way the BH admin seems to be going about the hiring process. It smacks of (1) extreme overconfidence, (2) incompetence, or both. I may be wrong, but don’t schools usually proceed with some kind of system? That is, they announce the opening, put together a hiring committee, hire a consultant (if they want a consultant), interview the candidates, narrow down to a few finalists, and make a decision. BH doesn’t seem to be doing that. It all seems pretty haphazard.
