There might be something to that.  Retirement is based on last 3 years salary, right?

Abseck was planning on staying there long term.  He bought a huge place in Plantation after his first season there so he was setting down roots.  You may be right about the guys before, though.

Average of 5 highest years, then percentage of that depending on amount of years in TRS.

You likely know it's 2.3% for each year. Just doing this for those not in TRS and wondering how it works.  Older retirees (think 2005 and before) utilize 3 highest years.

Ex. 30 years with a $120,000 5 year average.  30 X .023 = .805.   .805 X 120000 = 96600.

There is a maximum salary per year allowed by TRS for calculation.   345,000 for this school year which of course only would involve a few superintendents.

Your superintendent just drove off a good coach and is effectively drunk texting “you up?” to coaches to find a new one. “Embarrassing” is an understatement.

You know all of this how? Keep reading message boards they always tell the truth. 😂

Dude, why do you care so much? BH will be fine. Don’t think they move up to 6A until 2028. A lot can happen between now and then. There’s nothing we can do besides stay positive and look forward to a new challenge. Numbers will dictate where we end. The rest is just hot air. Coaching replacement should be named soon.

Spot on. None of the eternal BH haters here have a clue whats going to actually happen in the years to come. Their hate blinds them so much they just fantasize and wish the worst for BH every year.

BH may / may not go 6A next time around. Cutoffs rise every year.

BH may / may not be with NS etc. Districts are modified every year.

NS, etc. may / may not go to a 7A in 2 or 4 years.

6A may / may not have three divisions in the future.

If their worst wishes DON"T come through for BH, they will really come unhinged. Too much racial hate inside of them. Crazy thing is, BH football is more diverse than a handful of others in the area. Our team was way more diverse that Lufkin, PAM, BU, etc.

I would be very surprised if they went 6A in the next alignment.

Might be in a similar situation as LP. Yes. A lot of people have moved in the new subdivisions and apartments. But, what I’ve seen are a lot of younger families with younger kids. Not high school age yet.

BH was only 100 from the 6A cutoff last time.   They’ll be moving up in ‘26 and they know it.  That’s why they scheduled 6A out of District last season.  Wanted to show they were “6A ready”

Yep.  I usually utilize 35 years.  Thanks!  Educated I am, smart I'm not.

Retirement pay would be 96,600 on a 120,000 average off of 35 not 30 years of service.

I think 35 years is more realistic than 30 now that the Rule of 90 is more broadly applicable.

Not surprising. Actually think it might be a good thing. Maybe it will force the School Board to reevaluate how the Administration goes about some of it’s business.

This is becoming really interesting. Intrigued on how it will wind up.

Even for those of us that can retire at 30 years of service a 31% (69%) decrease is a pretty high drop. So, most go 35 plus regardless of the rule.  At least those that started in the profession in their early 20's and didn't leave for other pursuits, as I chose to do.

I will stop with the TRS discussion as this thread has stayed on topic of the BH coaching hire so extremely well. Don't want to mess that up.

Wonder what the breaking point is where they actually cave, post the job and go through a process...supt's definitely been working through the rolodex talking to high-profile coaches w/state titles and/or college experience on the resume..are there more names to call or do you get told no thanks enough to decide, "lets post the job, take applicants and see who wants to be here"

So The King of Cove ISD is going through his friends list and getting rejected?  This is hysterical on so may levels

Along with running up the price out here being a 'trick' putting pressure on other ISD's to pay their HC/ADs more money....

Laughable

If the Board doesn’t do the latter, it’s time for the interested parties in town to replace more than just the Super. This isn’t reflecting well on the community or the ISD—one of the largest employers in Chambers County.

The way the supt is going about it isn't a bad idea, it is how I'd do it..proactively contact elite candidates, get em to apply and streamline the process....most of the time thats the way to go....

However with the way things went down w/Abseck and the bad press BH has gotten within the coaching community it may be best to take a different approach this time

Can’t say how all—or even most—do it. Will say, many times, the Super gets input from other stakeholders even if soliciting on their own. Not sure that’s happening in this case.

Agree with your last. Just guessing; but, I’d think many of the BH faithful would agree. History hasn’t been on the side of the former for BHISD under this Admin. At least, not if you want some continuity for program stability.

Have they considered the coach at Clear Falls? He's a really good football mind, who is familiar with the rigor of 6A. No state championships, but everyone I've ever talked to who has known him speaks of how great he is. I think he would be interested.
