It's interesting that Abseck may be in the thought process at Lufkin???? I don't know anything either way. Folks do lots of supposing talk around here.  Personally don't think that's the road it is going down but we will see.  Lots of teams looking for HC in Texas right now, not enough good ones to go around IMO.  Some schools are going to be paying a lot of money to watered down visions of greatness.

Funny you bring that subject up. (Asbeck and Lufkin).

Little birdie (actually a big bird in the game) told me that's a good possibility.

I sure didn't think it was a possibility. 🤷🏾‍♂️ Maybe that's why Lufkin is taking their time making the hire 🤷🏾‍♂️

His coaching (with a different DC than he had at BH) along with Lufkin’s typical speed could be lethal. He was never gonna be very successful at BH. BH has issues from the top down. Doesn’t matter who the coach is…

Yup, Lufkin does have some pieces returning which includes the original QB1 and studs at the RB position amongst other areas.

Yes Lufkin has some athletes. But i dont want to offend anyones feelings at BH.

Key question: What is Lufkin’s policy on coaching decisions re:  the superintendent’s offspring?

All you people in the know just crack me up. You guys think we have all of these problems at BH yet out compete any school in the area across the board in sports and academics.  I think I like our problems 😂

Well, bragging about outperforming GCCISD is like bragging about beating a one-legged man in an ass-kicking contest.  Not exactly a good look.

As a group of upper middle class communities that make up BHISD, I’d expect the district to do well in academics and sports that benefit from club participation (which is easier to afford and participate in with a greater family income) than a sport which relies heavily on team speed. You can teach schemes. You can get stronger. You can’t teach speed.

How does the BH track team do in speed events?

Add on top of that an Admin that may meddle in football more than other sports because of their background, and it may (I accentuate ‘may’) make it more difficult from the football aspect.

Don’t forget, the previous two HFCs that were let go in a less than amicable fashion were also ADs. Don’t they get any credit for helping the other successful sports? Doesn’t an AD help support ALL sports activities?

I agree with a lot of what you say and I for one understand the problems at Barbers Hill but also some of this is incorrect.

The speed comment I agree they don't have what Lufkin or PAM has but as far as others in the area they are right there.  I am pretty sure they won the 4x100 in district and place good at regionals I could be mistaken but I don't believe so.  They have the best triple jumper in the state.  They have quality athletes the problem at BH at the moment in my opinion is the administration mainly pointing at the super.

Not even talking about GCCISD and you right 😂pick a school that out performs BHISD in this region I’ll wait.

As East Texas commented we do well in Track speed events. And yes the AD’s get the credit, but so does the Super for bringing them here. This also goes beyond sports and extends to academics and all UIL events. BH has been district UIL champs for like 27 years straight! The BH super isn’t perfect, but thank God he isn’t a liberal that caves to anyone crying.

not exactly the splashy hire we were promised.

It might be what they needed, splashy hires haven't exactly gotten them to where they wish to be. 🤷🏾‍♂️ I wouldn't work there but I do wish him luck though, except for a certain game versus a South Jefferson County team. 😎

Lufkin and BU on the clock now.

EDIT: if anyone quotes this post just quote the whole thing, that's all I ask.

In the last 4 years at Cypress Woods he went 26-17 with one co-district championship, one year missing the playoffs, and 0-3 in the playoffs. Had a pretty good stretch at CCVM, but that's a notoriously bad region, and the guy who replaced him has done just as well there.  Before that at CC Ray he won 1 playoff game in 5 years.  I'm having a hard time seeing this as an upgrade for BH, and that has nothing to do with me "hating" on them.

We will see haters 😂 yall are so interested in this.  Keep you fingers crossed maybe this will be the worst BH hire in history 😊 if not though prepare just in case BH succeeds and he’s the guy! Maybe we pull a PNG ya never know. One thing for sure is he will have some talent to work with the next couple of seasons at least.
