Astros agree to terms with Erstad

The Astros have reached an agreement with free agent outfielder/first baseman Darin Erstad, a 12-year veteran who hit .248 in 87 games last season for the Chicago White Sox.

The lefthanded hitter had four home runs and 32 RBIs. Erstad has spent his entire career in the American League, including the first 11 seasons with the Angels.

Erstad, 33, is a two-time All-Star who won Gold Gloves in 2000, 2002 and 2004.

Good sign. Very hard nosed player. Enjoyed watching him with the Angels. He's another one of those players that played hard and paid for it, but I love watching guys like that.

Give Wade time.  The few remaining free agents are fair at best or injured.  Give Backe, Paulino, Sampson and Rodriuez a chance.  Wandy was decent and seems to be coming around and even Oswalt agrees to that.  Wade will probably pick a pitcher up but it definately won't be Clemens and his b-12 butt.
