But is this West Brook team really an up tempo team?

I say this because they have only scored 70 points or more just 10 times this season. 80 or more just 3 times.

Looking at their entire schedule, the vast majority of the teams they have played are good defensive teams with patient offenses that don't turn it over. That's what you normally see at the 5A level and above. Up temp just isn't as effective at the higher classifications.

It's very common at the state tourney for the 5A and 6A games to be on the lower side of scoring. Lot's of 50 & 60 point games. rarely do you see 70+ games anymore.

I have only seen 4 West Brook games this year. I just don't see that team as up tempo.

WB is at their best scoring in the 60s. With their ability to defend the perimeter they look almost unbeatable at that pace. The United game they score 42 points in the entire game and overtime. I guess I  could have said WB is one of the better teams in the state when they are controlling the pace of the game and not letting the other team dictate it to them.

Now that I can agree on.

But what I have seen is that West Brook can adjust very well to the slow down game. They don't get too flustered with it.

Like I said, some teams defensively can make you slow down but also a team's offense can do the same. If a team has great guard play (doesn't turn it over in the full court which leads to transition buckets) then they are able to play at their pace.

I just think in the long run (playoffs) it's much better to be able to adapt to a slower pace than trying to play out of control just to make it a faster pace game. If you cannot turn a team over with your pressure defense (full, 3/4, half court, man, zone trap) then you better figure out a way to play half court offense.

Where have I complained at? Come on now, we both know that WE aren't going to argue about who knows what about basketball. Let's stop with the cap, like the youngsters say. Let's not get besides ourselves classmate! That's as nice as I'm going to be.

I don’t like these closer games with Nederland or Sterling. In the 90s we would beat each of those teams by 40 but this isn’t the 90s apparently 🤣

Leave me and my Al Bundy stories alone

Since English been at Nederland he’s made them very relevant… lol English magic on the court

Brian English was once on staff at West Brook. If we played Nederland or Sterling those games were over by halftime back then lol

He was the JV coach for 2 seasons in the late 90s. Stop living in the past. It’s annoying. Regarding this game, Nederland should have won it. I’ve never seen coach English so upset with a referee (ever), and he rarely blames the refs for a loss. This game was an exception. Same no call happened against Memorial in the last seconds of that game as well. I think this loss took the sails out of the team and it showed against Sterling on Tuesday night. Nederland has to win out or win at least 3/4 and hope for help from someone else to beat BH or United or Memorial.

8 is a stretch. His team made the playoffs his senior year for the first time in 25-30 years. Then again in 1995? May be another time in the late 90’s but my memory fails me sometimes. 🤣

Who are you to tell someone not to live in the past? The dictator of mid-county? Last I checked, we live in America. Not mother Russia or North Korea. I can live in past, present, or future. Nederland has not had much basketball success in the past and like I said the game would be over at half and you know it. Be happy you played WB present day and lost by 3. If they would’ve lost by 3 in the 80s or 90s to WB or Lincoln it would be their equivalent to a state championship.

Yes. I am supreme leader and dictator of Mid-County. How did you guess? 🙄

Fact check: In the 80’s, Nederland beat West Brook, French, and TJ. It did not feel like a state championship.
