If Silsbee played Kountze This Season

Kountze guard (I think it was TJ Stanford) hit 3 three's against the backups and came down court after hitting the 3rd one and told the Silsbee coaching staff that they better get somebody out there that can guard him. Next dead ball Silsbee put the starters back out there and immediately got back up by over 40 again with Stanford(?) not scoring a point. Back ups were put back in the game a few minutes later.

Silsbee then got upset in 2nd round to Sealy and Ricky Seals-Jones.

That was the year Kountze had Devin Bray and Roman Walker… that Kountze team was pretty impressive… it was the third round they lost in… Wasn’t really a upset Kountze as ranked 3rd and New Waverly was #4… I remember getting to that game 2 hours before the game at the Livingston middle school gym… they shut the doors around a hour before tipoff because it was already full. Kountze lost the flip on what gym to play in and New Waverly wanted a smaller gym.

I remember that game in Kountze @AggiesAreWe… I remember Jake Dobbins getting subbed in and made 2-3 3s I believe and the Silsbee side was going nuts

I was there in Kountze. I think it was a 5pm tip off lmao on a Saturday. That's the last time I've been to Kountze.

Yeah I was there too. I use to go to alot of playoff Tigers back then thru 2020. Sealy had some serious height. What was wild is 2 of those 6'6 kids form Sealy moved to Brookshire Royal the next season. Silsbee played Brookshire in Baytown which i  believe was Coach Sigler's 1st season back in Silsbee. Silsbee won that game and Hardin Jefferson beat Sealy the next season. Seals Jones vs Shawn Prudhomme was a great match up.

It's kind of funny to me. I see lot's of Kountze folks on social media wanting this game to happen this year. But where were these people the last 12 seasons?

Either play regularly or don't play at all. You can't "cherry pick" when or if you want to play. Take the bad with the good.

Because this is the first season in over a decade they would be favored (imo anyway).  More importantly, regardless of who would be a small favorite, it is also (other than arguably last year’s teams) where the game would be remotely competitive.  Kountze was god awful for a stretch in there.  Fortunately for the Lions, butt cheeks Kountze is gone and juggernaut Kountze is back.  Ring huntin’ Lions even.

The home games ain’t what they used to be in the new gym… but still get okay crowds… back in the early 2000s those were the days to catch a home game… when Ozen, Hardin Jefferson, or East Chambers came to town you couldn’t fit anyone else in the gym..

Me and my bro tried to go to a Kountze vs HJ game in Kountze before, we turned around after not finding parking. You're right.

Is one year not enough to qualify for a stretch? 😂  I was thinking it was 2-3 years but I’m old and relying on a subpar memory.  Regardless, as I’ve said many times, SETX basketball is better when Kountze is in top form so I’m glad the Lions “are back.”

They had a couple of sub .500 seasons after that 3 win season in 2019.

I liked when both Silsbee, Hardin Jefferson, and West Orange Stark were all ranked in basketball. Silsbee seems to have a few solid groups coming up as well.

I remember when Silsbee, Livingston, and Cleveland had some good wars in district.

It'd be nice if the Tigers were pushed a little more. These past few games have been pretty sad. It's hard to get a good read on how much they've improved when the games are over at halftime. We'll see how the second Bridge City game goes.
