Tigers94 Posted February 13 Report Posted February 13 I don't know how different Center is from when we played them early in the year, but I'll take Silsbee by 15. The Tigers were still in the habit of having some horrible second halves of basketball back during the first meeting. That game was a blowout at halftime before Center went on something like a 15 - 0 run in the second half. I don't think anything like that has happened to Silsbee since a few games before district started. Quote
BADSANTA Posted February 13 Report Posted February 13 One thing I would like to see Silsbee do better is crash the boards. It may not show in this game but vs Yates or Wheatley, we will need all hands on deck. It will be a uphill battle to advance to state but I never count out them Tigers. Who That 1 Quote
Tigers94 Posted February 13 Report Posted February 13 I'm a little worried this is going to be a short playoff run with Wheatley being next if we beat Center. Silsbee will need to be at the top of their game. I can see the roster shrinking down to about 7 kids who'll play, so staying out of foul trouble will be very important going forward. I think Wheatley is a good match up for Silsbee. They do what the Tigers want their opponents to do, play up tempo. What scares me is teams that can control tempo and make it a halfcourt game. I like Silsbee against Wheatley by 8. T-Lu and BADSANTA 2 Quote

I dont know if anyone in the Region will slow it down. Wheatley and Yates play uptempo. Turnovers and a bad shooting night is my worry. As I mentioned before everyone will need to crash the boards. Greg Wise has learned that over the years playing Silsbee. Center will try to slow it down. So will La Grange, Gateway, Sealy and Gatesville who all are on Silsbee's side of the bracket. Quote
Tigers94 Posted February 14 Report Posted February 14 I re-watched the Silsbee/Wheatley game from last year on Texan Live this evening. They didn't handle the Tiger pressure very well. Silsbee shot the 3-ball and free throws horribly in the first half. They also had issues turning the ball over and crashing the boards. If Silsbee can shoot the ball better and rebound, they'll have a chance. That nearly 30 point beating Wheatley gave Booker T Washington a few weeks ago is bound to have some people taking notice. Again, this is assuming we can get past Center. Quote

AggiesAreWe Posted Sunday at 03:11 PM Author Report Posted Sunday at 03:11 PM Now that district play is over and playoffs start tomorrow, just want to give the Silsbee Tiger basketball team it's kudos for going undefeated in district play for the 4th consecutive year. Some thought that Silsbee might lose a district game or two this season but I can say I predicted another undefeated district season. May not have won in blowout fashion every game like the last few years, but it's still an unblemished record. Tigers also extend their district game winning streak to 51 games. Congrats Tigers on another district championship! Which by the way, is their 16th in the last 17 seasons (out right and co). Quote
