JimThorpe Posted Tuesday at 02:15 AM Report Posted Tuesday at 02:15 AM This is the kind of win you really need to have in the first round.
Kountzer Posted Tuesday at 02:16 AM Report Posted Tuesday at 02:16 AM I finally got to see Silsbee play this season. I take that back, I saw some of that first Center game. Good win Tigers.

Kountzer Posted Tuesday at 02:37 AM Report Posted Tuesday at 02:37 AM Tarkington & HF probably psyched themselves out of a W because they played some teams with known basketball traditions.

Not even close. Both those teams (HF and Tarkington) are well coached. I can guarantee that wasn't a factor. bullets13 1
JimThorpe Posted Tuesday at 02:44 AM Report Posted Tuesday at 02:44 AM Wheatley, Yates and Washington combined would make a really good 6A. Not a big 6A but fair sized and with a really good basketball program that could compete with the other Houston area 6A's. Doesn't that sound like a good plan? BADSANTA 1
AggiesAreWe Posted Tuesday at 02:47 AM Author Report Posted Tuesday at 02:47 AM Let's just make this perfectly clear. Gone are the days when the words 'Yates" and "Wheatley" strike fear into teams. It just doesn't carry the weight like it used to back in the day. BADSANTA, Who That, rupert3 and 2 others 5

Played very well against the number 8 rank team in the state. bullets13 1

These young kids don't know much about Yates in the late 2000s or Wheatley from the 70s. Both programs are decent but not like they use to be. HarryDoyle 1
AggiesAreWe Posted Tuesday at 04:10 AM Author Report Posted Tuesday at 04:10 AM Both Silsbee and Wheatley have agreed on East Chambers. Silsbee wants Thursday. Wheatley wants Friday. Stay tuned. BADSANTA, TexasBoy89 and Who That 2 1
Kountzer Posted Tuesday at 04:34 AM Report Posted Tuesday at 04:34 AM Sports psychology is a vast subject. They got people with phDs studying this subject. It is not always predictable but it is a factor. If you take a program like Tarkington, and they play Silsbee, most of the time Silsbee will.win. Maybe because the winning team has better players. But they have better players because that community mindset towards basketball has a positive effect. It is like when Silsbee plays Cuervo in football. C has the psychological advantage. I could say more but I do not want to type that much lol.

Wheatley is the better team and that's why they won the game. Had nothing to do with psyching out the opponent. bullets13 1

Psychology factors into every sporting event. It is in long term history and short term history. Perhaps it wasn’t so much that the Tarkington team was psyched out, but that the Wheatley team was psyched in. No doubt the Wheatley coach has reminded his team of their basketball tradition. He probably has reminded them of their success this season, and of the success and schedule of their opponent. He probably told them of the talent this team has and who they have played this season and the victories they have had. IOWs being psyched and psychology in general is definitely a two way street,to say the least. More can be said but to me this is not a hill worth dying on, figuratively speaking.

You said nothing about Wheatley psych. You only spoke on Tarkington being psyched out. Now you change the narrative when your theory is debunked
