BBfan061 Posted Tuesday at 08:12 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 08:12 PM Was there any intimidation to playing Houston Wheatley because of their history ? No…. Do I think there was some kinda intimidation because they were playing a top 10 ranked team? Sure it’s possible

It is not always predictable but it is a factor. If you take a program like Tarkington, and they play Silsbee, most of the time Silsbee will.win. Maybe because the winning team has better players. But they have better players because that community mindset towards basketball has a positive effect. It is like when Silsbee plays Cuervo in football. C has the psychological advantage. I could say more but I do not want to type that much lol. It's nothing like this. Those Silsbee football teams have literally nothing in common with couple of basketball teams who this year were good enough to win a playoff game or two, but not against top-10 Houston teams who they unfortunately got matched up with first round.
Kountzer Posted Wednesday at 04:19 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 04:19 AM I came up with the word psyched. I couldn’t think of anything else. So it was not a well planned theory. I think i saw Tarkington Vs Silsbee when the tigers had McCain, Adams and the 3rd guard (cańt think of his name) the one that went to McNeese for awhile. I think the opponent was Tarkington. The location wqs Livingston high school. Good game, but Silsbee was in loaded, and won. One of the great psych games, if you want to call it that was when Silsbee made it to the finals and lost to Dallas Lincoln. MCCain got seriously injured. Silsbee had the best team but just came apart, trying to end the frustration. Lincoln had good players, they also had this thing, this quiet confidence of winning state cause their school basketball program had done it 3 or 4 times before. There is something about crossing that threshold. Until you do it, that doubt will linger. Now was that the case with Tarkington? I don’t know. TBH i don’t have anything against them. I really don’t care too much one way or another. Quote Ing

Their first was 2002. 14 years prior. So it wasn't 3-4 state championships prior to that Silsbee game. If you are going to make a point, get your facts straight.
Tigers94 Posted Wednesday at 04:36 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 04:36 AM I think Dallas Lincoln's first ring was against Ozen. Chris Bosh vs Kendrick Perkins. AggiesAreWe 1

My facts were good boss man.
Tigers94 Posted Wednesday at 05:58 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 05:58 AM Dallas Lincoln Wiki has them at 4 titles: This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up 2015 - 2016 - Beat Silsbee 2001 - 2002 - Beat Ozen 1992 - 1993 - Beat PA Lincoln 1989 - 1990 - Beat Boerne I'll say I don't think any team is scared of them, Yates or Wheatley anymore unless they just don't know any better.
