In your opinion, what work does Nederland need to do this offseason?

Get a little better at blocking and tackling. Improve on catching the ball and running the ball while also making some gains passing the ball. If they can do this, they should improve.

They better get tremendously better on defense. They haven’t played good defense in the past 7-8 years. They need some coaches to teach secondary players how to play. Those positions have been extremely bad. LB’er play hasn’t been much better. Also have to get the OL much better and find a QB and receivers. The new coaching staff will hopefully teach for improvement

Nederland had good (and sometimes great) LB play last year.

The Bulldogs had a good defensive end that some called a LB’er, however he was a defensive end. One of the LB’ers was decent, but the smaller one was not good(I don’t know if I ever saw him make a tackle). He started but looked like he was afraid of contact. He must have started after the one they said was good got hurt in the 1st game and was out the remainder of the season

I am sure they had some good moments but nothing great. Certainly didn’t play well vs Texas High, Huntsville, Montgomery, Silsbee, or Lake Creek. The defense was pretty poor in those games!

Definitely need to improve defensively. With that said, we didn't have the jimmy's and joe's in the trenches imo. I think we will see improvement as Rich will have a full year and whole offseason to implement his philosophy. Got some good ones coming up through the pipeline, but this season will see a bunch of youngsters and a new qb. Growing pains.

Yes they did last year, new coach said they will every year.

Part of that was because they have a new coach.  I guess we will see if Rich keeps spring football or not.

They have a couple of good groups of kids coming up so lets see what he can do.   He already improved from 2-8 to dang near winning a tough district last year with basically the same kids as the year before.

He was quoted on I believe the Pa news that he was going to bring spring football to Nederland every year..
