AggiesAreWe Posted February 25 Author Report Posted February 25 I tend to agree. Should be no more than 6 per team rhino1877, Mr. Buddy Garrity and T-Lu 3 Quote
rhino1877 Posted February 25 Report Posted February 25 Congrats to these student athletes, but BC and Vidor with 1 on 1st team? Can't please everybody but something is amiss. AggiesAreWe 1 Quote
Excoach1970 Posted February 25 Report Posted February 25 Vidor got 2 superlatives and a 1st team kid, BC got a superlative and a 1st team kid. They can’t get both right ? Quote

Should be no more than 6 per team 6 was the number we were going for but our district rules say ties remain ties and there was a tie on both the first and second team so a few extra kids got added. It can definitely get watered down though, I agree 5GallonBucket 1 Quote

BADSANTA Posted Wednesday at 02:20 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 02:20 PM Payton Jones will more than likely be All-State as well. Still feels werid Silsbee won't be in the Regionals this weekend. Don't wanna get use to that feeling. STiger85 1 Quote

Was telling someone the other day that you know a program is in rarified air when you spend a season ranked in the top 10, go undefeated in district, win a playoff game, and then lose in the second round to one of the most storied programs in the history of the state from a city 350 times bigger than yours and the season feels like a huge disappointment. A bad year for Silsbee is a dream season for most schools. And this season will be the exception to the rule I’m sure for awhile. Mr. Buddy Garrity, BBBB and bullets13 3 Quote

We’ve made the playoffs 2 years in a row and have gotten to the second round both times. That is such a great achievement for us. Then I read the other day that kids are talking about moving out of Silsbee because they lost out early?! Really? Has the mindset gotten that bad that they can never lose? This is humbling for them for sure but a great reason to come back strong which I’m sure they will. TxHoops 1 Quote

A bad year for Silsbee is a dream season for most schools. And this season will be the exception to the rule I’m sure for awhile. Over the last 10 seasons, Silsbee was 15-2 vs. Houston ISD schools in the playoffs. Silsbee has basically been running 4A Region III for the last 20 years. You had to beat them to win the region or Silsbee won the region. Only three seasons in the last 20 where a team won the region without beating Silsbee or Silsbee won the region. If Wheatley beats Yates tomorrow night, then that will make 18 out of last 21 seasons that the 4A Region III champ was either Silsbee or a team that eliminated Silsbee from the playoffs. This 2nd round exit breaks a streak of 4 straight regional final appearances (9 of last 10 years Silsbee made regional finals). Over the last 20 years, Silsbee played for the regional championship 14 times, winning it 7 times. I agree, some rarified air. TxHoops 1 Quote

The names and faces have changed out of DFW and hasn’t been one particular school like Silsbee. AggiesAreWe and 5GallonBucket 2 Quote
JimThorpe Posted Friday at 08:23 PM Report Posted Friday at 08:23 PM What about next year? Call me a Pollyanna but I think it will be a good year. Losing both inside guys is tough but I think our district will be somewhat forgiving of a lack of size and possibly the Region too, if you can make up for it with athleticism. Of course it's a bunch of teams and you don't know what's coming down the pike. Quote

It's simply too early to say how things are going to play out. Next year could be the weakest Tiger season in a while, or they might be about as good as this year. Quote

Used to be if you lettered, you got a jacket or a patch if you already had a jacket. Now you get “All District” 😂 Quote
