Too many “small” schools complaining about playing “bigger” schools ! I can see the concern bout football but not basketball in my opinion, cause when it gets time to win only bout 7/8 players playing anyways 🤣

Yup don’t like it in football either but can understand the reasoning…basketball I’m honestly confused as to why they changed to this format literally watering down the product! On top of that you required to play one less game to win state, disrespectful to teams and coaches of the past who did it the hard way.

You know that the original playoff format, there’s two sides to the bracket.  BU and WB would’ve been probably been on the opposite side of Marshall.  Meaning that one of them would’ve survived past round 3…

I stand correct I was just informed WB beat Marshall in the preseason. Would’ve still loved to see that match up in the playoffs! Either way congrats to both teams, just keep on winning!

I was telling @Austin1985 the other day I wanted to see a WB vs FBM matchup. In the old way it probably would've been them 2 going at it then us versus BU.

They split the divisions in FB, so it makes since to split them in other sports as well. FB Marshall only beat BH by 10 so I don’t know if they could have beat WB or not

I agree with this mostly.  A couple hundred difference in enrollment shouldn't matter much.

That said, I'll never stop complaining about small town schools playing big city schools in the playoffs. How many of our local 4A playoff schools got eliminated by schools with the word "Houston" in front of their name this year? Almost all of them? Hamshire-Fannett, Tarkington, Bridge City, Silsbee, Livingston, and Lufkin Hudson were all put out by 3 Houston teams. And realistically you should probably throw Stafford in with them, who took out Hargrave. These teams pull talent from an area thousands of times greater in both size and population than the small school teams that they beat yearly to make it to regionals and state. I'd much rather see this fixed than have split divisions in each classification. When one school has 7/8 players playing from a talent pool of a few thousand and gets matched up with 7/8 players from a talent pool of a few million... i think the smaller schools have valid complaints there.
