JM out rebounded Fairfield 36-29 with 17 offensive rebounds. JM put up 51 shots to Fairfield's 38 I saw the halftime stats and I believe the were 3/8 from deep? maybe 3/9. so 2/14 or 2/15 in the second half. and a lot of those looks were bad. That total actually sounds low to me, though. Quote
bullets13 Posted Friday at 11:43 PM Report Posted Friday at 11:43 PM Dallas Lincoln up 31-11 at the half over Cuero. Always seems fair when a school from a town of 8,000 makes it to the state finals and gets to play a school from a city of 1.3M… Quote

yepyep Posted Saturday at 05:53 PM Report Posted Saturday at 05:53 PM Decatur beat LaVega last night 53-41 for their first state championship in girls basketball. Won state in volleyball this year with only one girl playing both sports. They will be even better next year. Return everyone and then some. Quote

Becoming just another suburb of DFW unfortunately. I do think their enrollment numbers are legit, but they may be 5A in two realignments. Kind of following the path of Argyle. Steven Avery Posted 12 hours ago Report Posted 12 hours ago A lot of these scores just highlight the watered down impact of two divisions. Liberty Hill getting smoked by 30 in the state finals and Kountze winning by almost 40 is insane. Hey but more people got a trophy and get to claim they went to "state" bullets13 and AggiesAreWe 2 Quote

That said, it’s accepted and embraced in football. And while I get that the enrollment numbers can play a bigger role in football, I don’t hate some of the big city schools that find a way to be in lower divisions being split and giving small towns a better chance to succeed. We also had the opportunity for bridge city and Hamshire fannett to play to go to state, which was pretty fun. So I guess I have mixed feelings about it. I definitely have less of a problem with splitting than i do with 50% or more of the teams in most districts making the playoffs to begin with. Quote
