At least we’re about to get some tax cuts lol

AURORA, Colo. — Federal layoffs continue to impact multiple job sectors, including the Veterans Affairs (VA) system in Colorado.

Several VA workers in the state, including two combat veterans, have confirmed to 9NEWS they were let go this week.

Brett Taylor, an Iraq War veteran, said he moved to Colorado in August to take a job in social work at the York Street VA Clinic in Denver. Taylor said he took the job to help other veterans following his retirement from active duty.

“My job, my goals, my duty since I’ve been out of the military has been to help people like me,” Taylor said.

On Monday, Taylor and at least four colleagues received an email notifying them of their immediate termination. The message stated, “Unfortunately, the Agency finds that your performance has not met the burden to demonstrate that your further employment at the Agency would be in the public interest.”

Because they had been there less than a year, Taylor said the VA was technically allowed to terminate them immediately.

“I think what bothers me the most is whether you're a Republican or whether you're a Democrat, we're still human beings,” he said. “It’s our duty, and for that to be stripped away from us like that, it’s unfortunate.”

Air Force veteran Bilal Torrens said he started working at the VA in December. He received the same email on Monday at the end of his shift.

“It kind of felt like a slap in the face, honestly,” Torrens said.

Wonder if any veterans were laid off when the Keystone was shut down?

Just so we’re clear — you’re saying you don’t care that 1,400 Americans, including veterans, were laid off at the VA?

Just so we’re clear — you’re saying you don’t care that millions of illegals invaded our country and were afforded food, debit cards, and shelter while leaving homeless veterans lying in the street? Really dude? Now you are somehow infuriated that 1400 people got caught in a layoff which happened to include a couple vets? How fake can your outrage be? What a putz.

If their services were not needed, no. Obama let active military go as he did not deem some essential. We can play this all day.

Yeah, I do not get this.......people are laid off everyday in this country. I hate it but some tough decisions have to be made. Everyone agrees that we cannot continue down this spending highway but then gripe at every cut that is made or proposed.

I'll never claim that every job lost should be cut, or that mistakes aren't made in haste. But you're really doing the whole democratic propaganda thing? Instead of focusing on whether or not the position is needed the left insists on bombarding us with sad sob stories about people laid off. in 2024 there were 20.3 MILLION employees laid off or discharged in the US. So can we quit pretending the left cares about laid off employees now? They're only upset that they're losing influence and programs to pour money into.
