TheKingofSwing Posted March 12 Report Posted March 12 Chester rolling in at #2 in the state! I think they’re easily the best team in the state. Should steamroll through the region, I see no one in their way! If they don’t make it to state you could easily call this season a failure right? Quote
KF89 Posted March 12 Report Posted March 12 Solid, exp. team Chester – 7 players return from a 24-11 State Semi-Finalist team including Will Thomason, Sr, P/3B (THSBCA All State, TSWA 1st Team All State, District Pitcher of the Year) and Waylon Sturrock, Sr, OF/P (TSWA 1st Team All State, District Offensive MVP) Quote
longball24 Posted March 12 Report Posted March 12 Chester should definitely make a run at the championship but, it all depends on how much work was put into the offseason. With these small schools the kids think they have to be involved with everything under the sun, which takes away from off season work. Which is where championships are won, add injuries that happen while participating in other sports this will end any dream of a championship. There are 3 schools that can make a run. Chester, Brookland and Groveton Centerville. Who has put in the work during offseason. Quote
bullets13 Posted March 12 Report Posted March 12 they'll have a good chance, but there's always some variance, especially in those 1-game series. that said, Brookeland appears to have only graduated 2 from a team that 18-3 last year and beat Chester 2 out of 3 times. It seems pretty unlikely Chester steamrolls them. Quote
TheKingofSwing Posted March 18 Author Report Posted March 18 Friday at 4:00 in Chester is the showdown between the two top 10 ranked district rivals. Last night Brookeland defeated West Sabine 10-4 in their first game of the season so it should be a good one but I think the Yellowjackets still take this one. As I said before I believe Chester is destined for their first state championship this year. rupert3 1 Quote

They are the only one with a kid committed to play at the next level. That is a difference maker in small schools. Who worked hardest in the offseason. Who handles pressure best will come out on top. I don't think we can say Brookeland is the favorite with only 1 game played, even with the D2 commit. Chester has 18 games played to Brookeland's 1, I would definitely say Chester is the favorite, plus they're the #2 team in the state. Brookeland doesn't have a chance!! Quote

TheKingofSwing Posted Saturday at 03:55 PM Author Report Posted Saturday at 03:55 PM So round 1 goes to Brookeland? Wow. Didn’t see this coming. I still think Chester best team in the state. They get it done in the playoffs when it actually matters, just like last season. Quote
