Pretty sure he could have left for a school like Crawford a long time ago if he wanted to that bad

Historically Crawford is a step up program wise. Let's be real here Crawford was making state runs and going deep year after year while Woodville finally got past the 2nd round.

I would assume they should be unless they know something I don't

You are not going to find what you are looking  for this late in the hiring process.

Crawford:

665-282-33, 3 championship app, 1 championship, 47 playoff app

Woodville:

511-448-30, 1 championship app, 0 championships, 25 playoff app

Plus this move is closer to family back in Central Texas.

Yea Crawford is "historically" a really good "2A" program but they're 9-14 and haven't made it past the 2nd round in "2A" playoffs the last 2 years. That's not a step up.

Crawford better get ready for the Double Wing. They will not throw the ball down field.

I'm sure Rob will do a good job over there but yep that's probably what he has in mind 🤣 That's the style he likes to coach and might be part of the reason he wanted to go there

I think there's probably some better options out there than him but if you're right I think I'd probably rather just keep it in house at least temporarily for now

I was kind of curious why the step down.  Figured they usually want to step up.

There's probably many different variables but the main reason I've heard is family and location. Or maybe Rob agrees with LionPride who thinks it's a step up. Who knows

If you remember there was an altercation with the OC during the state championship  some say it was because the OC wanted to open the play book up down field and he shut it down. Who knows. But I do know he doesn’t like the forward pass and to move up in competition would require at minimum a balanced offense.

Just because you move from 3a to 2a does not mean its a step down program wise. Woodville just had their best season ever. Everyone goes threw down years especially at the 2a rank.

Crawford is a 2a powerhouse and looks to be ready for another run with the varsity being 80% freshman last season

2024 3-9

2023 6-5

2022 14-1*

2021 13-1*

2020 13-2*

2019 9-4

2018 5-6

2017 11-3*

2016 14-2*

2015  14-1*

102-34 in the last 10 years

they have played in the state semi finals 4 times in the last 10 years and region final 6 times

How could you not say this is not a step up?

Interesting. Late in the 3rd quarter with zero on the scoreboard in the state game you should be willing to make some adjustments

You might have to be aware of what we got coming up at Woodville to understand where I'm coming from

Must not be enough to make him stay.

Obviously. But I think it might work out better for our program and for him over at Crawford as well. He's been great for our program but it's probably just time to part ways

I'm pretty sure there is a large contingent of Wville people that are happy there is going to be a change.  I understand that they got to the CHAMPIONSHIP game, but they were never going to beat Gunter without a VERTICAL passing game. They have the QB and receivers to threaten people down the field, but Ty was never going to allow that. Wville needs an offensive minded coach running the show if they think they can get back to a CHAMPIONSHIP game again in the next two years.

Yea we can definitely use a more offensive minded coach but we still want to make sure we don't get away from the toughness and things like that which Coach Rob helped instill which contributed to becoming a winning program

You can be tough, play great, physical defense and still THROW the ball down field.

Has Franklin ever beat any of those teams without a “vertical passing game”? WV was “not going to beat a team like Gunter” because Gunter had better players.

The WV coaches just completed the best season in the history of Woodville. There was no offense known to man that would have changed the outcome of the Championship game for WV.

A couple offensive adjustments probably would have got us a score or 2. Those scores might have shifted the momentum of the game. That's what shifted the momentum the game before except it was a defensive score

Understood. Tidehaven is not Gunter. I am certain that the coaches were fully aware and knowledgeable enough to “make a couple of offensive adjustments”. They likely made or wanted to make several adjustments that did not work or they were unable to implement due to Gunter defense. I have found over the years that few in the stands have any idea what is going on through the headsets or on the sidelines.

Your definitely right. I don't know what's going on through the headsets at all. But it looked like we basically had the same gameplan throughout the year regardless of who we were playing. Only thing that changed in the playoffs was Tay started getting more touches and by the time we got to Arlington, Gunter had plenty film on him.

Yep, Gunter been piling up State Championships and beating every team they face on a yearly basis. WV was just the most recent
