[Ty Cobb]

Positives:

Took 3 out of 4 from the redsox to win the first series of the season.

deGrom pitched 5 scoreless innings in his season debut. (75 pitch pitch count)

Adolis is seeing the ball well.

 

Negative’s: Josh Jung is already on the IL.

Josh Smith missed a game because of a quad injury from running into the fence.

I always worry about the injury bug early on. Smh. Bites us every season, even when we won it all.

Kumar Rocker got Rocked. And he did most of spring training as well. He may still develop into a big league starter, but he's not ready yet. Not sure why Dunning isn't in that 5th spot until some people come back from injury. He's been basically a .500 pitcher for the last 4 years with the rangers, and is a good inning eater.

Dane Dunning was waived.  As far as I know, he's not on a major league roster.  The rumor is it has something to do with an injury.

I agree with you on Rocker.  Leiter didn't have a very good outing in game 2.  He threw his fastball for strikes but his off speed was no where near the zone.  Mahle had a terrible outing game 3.  Hopefully these guys can get things going in their next start.

Tough when you're putting a lot of hope in a bunch of guys coming off major injuries or with almost no experience in the bigs. Eovaldi is the only starter they have in the rotation right now that has both experience and fairly reasonable health over the last two seasons.

Eovaldi just threw a complete game shutout on 99 pitches. Good guys win 1-0!!!

second straight 1-0 win! Leiter gives them 5 scoreless 1-hit innings, and the bullpen combined to give up 2 hits over 4 to close out the win! The offense better pick it up, but the pitchers, and even the bullpen have been solid so far this year.

Won another series. Leiter looked very good today. He had good command of his off speed pitches and his fastball was electric. I hope we see more of this Leiter!!!

Surly the bats will wake up before too long.

Pitching was excellent the last two days, thankfully. Can’t score two runs in two games and normally expect one win, much less two.
