It has truly been a pleasure officiating for Coach Sigler over the years. His professionalism and integrity in the game of high school basketball were evident every time his team stepped on the court. What set him apart was not just his knowledge of the game, but the respect he consistently showed to officials—even in moments where a call was questionable, he never tried to embarrass or demean. He addressed concerns with composure and always maintained the standard of respect.

Coach Sigler also went above and beyond by allowing me to come speak to his team on multiple occasions, giving insight on officiating and teaching the do’s and don’ts from a referee’s perspective. That openness to educate and bridge the gap between coaches, players, and officials is a rare and appreciated quality.

Wishing Coach Sigler a happy and well-deserved retirement. Your legacy of leadership, character, and respect will continue to influence the game and those who play it for years to come.

What other school did Sigler coach at ?

Yeah things won't be the same with coach retiring. It was bound to happen. This will be his 2nd retirement. Coach Sigler has been a staple in the Silsbee community for almost 40 years. I wonder who Silsbee will bring in? Coach Jacobs Brooks and Coach Ira Brooks I hope will remain on the staff. Coach Ira Brooks has been coaching for over 30 years as well. Their both Silsbee royalty.

4A doesn't pay like 6A. Silsbee is a smaller 4A. Maybe a good idea to hire from within.

I know two coaches that will apply.

Travis Williams and Tremaine Hancock.

Silsbee doesn't normally hire short term. Most coaches hired at Silsbee (football, basketball, baseball HC) stay for a while. So I can't really see them promoting Ira unless it's to bridge the gap some to have Jacob take over in a couple of years. I would be fine with that.

But there will be a pretty good list of coaches that will apply to choose from.

I was also told that Bryant from Westwood will likely apply and bring his two star sons with him.

Here's an interesting stat:

Since 1981, Silsbee has had just 3 head basketball coaches. Terry Culley, Joe Sigler and Travis Williams.

3 coaches in 45 years.

Also in football since 1984. Silsbee has had just 3 head coaches. Charlie Woodard, Bobby McGallion and Randy Smith.

3 coaches in 41 years.

That's my point of stating Silsbee hires long term and not short term.

Travis coming back would be great as well. Hancock is also an outstanding coach. Great family!
