Wildcatters win streak at 18 after 4-1 win in Pensacola

Pensacola, FL-- All-Star John McNabb scored twice and the first place Wildcatters scored three third period goals to beat the Pensacola Ice Pilots 4-1 Friday night and extend their unbeaten streak to 18 games.

After skating to a scoreless first period, Pensacola got on the board first as Erik Fabian beat Texas starter Peter Aubry at 7:59 to give the last place Ice Pilots a 1-0 advantage.

Captain McNabb, recently selected as an starter for the 2008 ECHL All-Star game, tied the game for the Catters (23-2-1-4) at 15:00 of the second with his 15th goal of the year. He was unassisted on the play.

The Wildcatters would explode and down the Pilots with three goals in the final frame. Max Taylor began the barrage with his seventh goal of the season at 4:48 on a marker assisted by Colin Nicholson and Moises Gutierrez--whose points streak reaches three games with the helper.

McNabb would register his second goal of the game and team-leading 16th goal of the season to bring the score to 3-1 at 12:36 of the . Brandon Benedict, who dropped the gloves with Phil Youngclaus in the first period, would gather the assist to continue his blazing hot stretch for Texas.

Kevin Baker would continue his six-game points streak with some last second insurance at 19:46 and the Catters would go on to win 4-1.

Pensacola mustered only 20 shots to the Wildcatters' 35, with Aubry making 19 saves en route to his 12th win of the year (12-2-1-1). With a save percentage of .915 and GAA of 2.47, Aubry ranks 10th among ECHL keepers.

Following the game forward Ross Carlson was recalled to Rockford of the AHL. Carlson has 22 points (10g-12a) in 29 games for Texas this season.

The win extends the Wildcatters unbeaten-in-regulation streak to eighteen games, their last loss coming to the Elmira Jackals on Nov. 17.

And it continues!

The 'Catters STOMPED the Mississippi Sea Wolves last night in Biloxi by a score of 10-5.

Yes, the Wildcatters scored TEN goals last night.  :o

And it's not a win streak, but an "unbeaten" streak.

In other words, the Wildcatters have gone 19 games without a regulation loss.

The only losses that the 'Catters have had during that time were either in overtime or a shootout.

Either way, they earn 1 point in the standings for an OT or shootout loss, so it's basically like a tie.

Regulation Win = 2 points

OT or shootout win = 2 points

OT or shootout loss = 1 point

Regulation loss = 0 points

Their record is 24-2-1-4  for a total of 53 points.
