KFDM COOP Posted January 1, 2008 Report Posted January 1, 2008 District 21-5A hoops action resumesFrom sports staff reportsBaytown Sun Published January 2, 2008Baytown teams return to the gym tonight to resume District 21-5A basketball play.Sterling’s boys, coming off the championship of last weekend’s Gulf Coast Classic at Barbers Hill, play at Humble, while Lee’s boys hosts Atascocita.Both teams are looking for their first district win.Humble, Atascocita, Kingwood and West Brook were winners on the district’s first night of boys competition, Dec. 14.Humble surprised Port Arthur Memorial 55-48, although the Titans played without University of Texas signee J’Covan Brown for most of that game.Brown has been suspended for violating team rules since and did not play in Port Arthur’s holiday tournament.Sterling’s girls will try to improve on their 1-2 league record when they host Humble’s LadyWildcats tonight. Lee, 0-3, is on the road at Atascocita.Kingwood leads 21-5A girls’ play at 3-0 with Port Arthur Memorial next at 2-0 and Channelview is 2-1, with Humble 1-1. Atascocita and West Brook share a 1-2 record with Sterling.District 21-4A basketball, involving teams from Barbers Hill and Crosby gets back under way Friday night with a full slate of games.School resumes for most area schools Jan. 8.
