Guest abovetherim Posted January 2, 2008 Report Posted January 2, 2008 Lamar is killing UH 46-22 at halftime. Wow! Go Lady Cardinals!!!!!
Guest abovetherim Posted January 2, 2008 Report Posted January 2, 2008 Nikki Williams is leading the Cardinals in scoring with 16 first half pts.
Guest abovetherim Posted January 2, 2008 Report Posted January 2, 2008 56-42 Lamar still leading but the Cougars are coming back. 10 minutes left in the game.
Guest abovetherim Posted January 2, 2008 Report Posted January 2, 2008 61-50 Lamar still leading with 5:00 left. Lets go ladies, we need to finish these last few minutes!!!!!!!
Guest abovetherim Posted January 2, 2008 Report Posted January 2, 2008 Not looking good the lead is down to 3. LU 61, UH 58.
Guest abovetherim Posted January 2, 2008 Report Posted January 2, 2008 UH just took the lead on a trey. UH 64, Lamar 63 with about 2:00 left. LU has 24 TO's. That will kill you every time. When is that PG from Europe coming?
Guest abovetherim Posted January 2, 2008 Report Posted January 2, 2008 Tied 68 all with 23 seconds left Lamar ball. UH called Timout!
Guest abovetherim Posted January 2, 2008 Report Posted January 2, 2008 Unbelievable. Game going to OT, tied at 70. Lamar had a chance to win the game at the FT line but a un-named player missed one of her three attempts. God, this is driving me CRAZY! :'(
Guest abovetherim Posted January 2, 2008 Report Posted January 2, 2008 One of the lady Cards was fouled with 1 second left in the game attempting a 3-pointer. I'm not naming her because she is our leading scorer and that is a pressure situation. A lot of athletes today can't make all their FT's!!!!
Guest abovetherim Posted January 2, 2008 Report Posted January 2, 2008 This is killing me. Lamar lost in OT to UH after the men lost to Tech yesterday. I'm not sure which is worse, losing after leading by twenty at halftime or losing by missing a 3-pointer at the buzzer.I'm depressed, I'll talk to you guys tomorrow. Have a safe and blessed night!
KFDM COOP Posted January 2, 2008 Author Report Posted January 2, 2008 Lady Cards Fall at Houston 82-75 in Overtime Nikki Williams scores career-high 26 points HOUSTON - The Lamar University women's basketball team could not hold off the University of Houston Lady Cougars who erased a 26-point deficit in the second half to post an 82-75 overtime win at Hofheinz Pavilion on Wednesday night. The Lady Cards took a 24-point lead into halftime, but UH methodically chipped away at the deficit and took their first lead of the game with 2:29 to play in the game. The Lady Coogs took a 64-63 lead on a three pointer by Tye Jackson, but LU quickly responded and took a three point lead on an Aida Bakhos free throw with 1:48 to play. Houston tied the game back up at 68 with 44 seconds to play and Twiggy McIntyre gave the Lady Cougars a 70-68 lead with 4.5 seconds to play on a pair of free throws. With their backs against the wall, the Lady Cards had one last chance to get back in the game and Nikki Williams answered the call. Williams raced split a double team down the sideline and stopped at the top the key for an open three pointer. Her shot was long, but a foul on Alona Obaze gave Williams three free throws with 0.5 second left. She missed the first freebie but sank the second two to send the game to overtime. In the extra period the Lady Cardinals jumped out to a 72-70 lead on a pair of Tamara Abalde free throws, but UH quickly erased the deficit and took the lead for good with 3:07 to play on a free throw by Ryan Meyers. Houston closed out the game on an 8-2 run for the 82-75 win, improving their season record to 6-8 on the year. Lamar falls to 7-6 on the year, but will head into conference play with a winning record for the first time since the 1991-92 season. Nikki Williams lead the way for the Lady Cardinals with a career-high 26 points, while Abalde posted a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Brittney Williams also posted a double-double, scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
Guest mffl Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 Frustrating game, but compared to where this ladies team is now from a year ago (completely different players and coaching staff), i love where this team is going. The team hasn't a winning season since I can't remember, and i'm pretty sure we're gonna make some noise in conference. Larry Tidwell is turning this team around. Disappointing game but it'll point our weaknesses thats for sure.

Guest coachacola Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 These types of loses probably won't happen next year. Since this is such a young team I wouldn't be surprised if the team is a lot better next year.
