HUMBLE — The Lee Ganders played some lock-down defense against the District 21-5A leaders Tuesday night.

But they couldn’t match the success on offense and fell to Humble 43-34.

“We played extremely hard and we had a pretty good defensive effort as a team,” Gander coach Dote Williams said. “Darius Cooper and Eugene Mayes really stood out.

“Darius played great, great defense and Eugene held their best player, Vincent Cavalier, to three points. But our inability to score caught up with us.”

Humble, now 6-0 in 21-5A, led 18-11 at halftime and stretched that lead to 35-23 after three quarters.

Cooper led all scorers with 15 points and Reggie Butler added seven for Lee, which is now 2-21 on the season, 0-6 in district.

The Ganders host Channelview Friday night at 7 p.m.
