Tech Defeats A&M

Actually we know that Tech is bad on the road and a lot better at home.  They got blown out by Ok State on Saturday in Stillwater, and all 6 of their losses have been away from Lubbock.

The atmosphere of that game was a lot different last night than the Lamar game was. It was a sellout crowd vs. a top 10 opponent and Bob Knight going for win #900. The crowd was electric and that looked like a TOTALLY different Tech team than the one that struggled with Lamar on New Years Day.

And as I mentioned before, you can't compare Tech game versus Lamar. Tech played down to Lamar's style of play. Obviously Tech showed what they are made of against A&M. They well enough to win.

Lamar didn't play Tech's JV squad. It was the same team and same coach. There seems to be this brick wall when it comes to giving

Lamar any credit. Tech is good when playing SHSU, bad when playing Lamar, now once again good.

Right, you can't compare the Tech game against Lamar to the Tech game against A&M.  Lamar's guards were much more sure-handed so Knight didn't try to press them much, while Lamar could press effectively against Tech.  A&M just didn't match up well with Tech.  Lamar did.  Kudos to Tech for being able to beat a team that was able to exploit their weaknesses as well as Lamar could.

Congratulations to Tech on their victory and I agree with weslinder in part but you could pretty much say the same thing about any team with a common opponent. A great deal comes to matchups and Coach Knight didn't get to 900 wins without knowing how to gain an advantage.

Tech beat Northwestern State a few days before by 24 points, then a few days after they beat a good UTEP team by 7, so they were playing pretty good basketball during that stretch.  But playing in front of a sellout crowd does raise the intensity level of the game.
