KFDM COOP Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 Gander soccer team gets SoHo paybackFrom sports staff reportsBaytown Sun Published January 17, 2008Lee’s soccer team was scoring in the rain Tuesday night and hopes to keep raining goals when it plays at Westfield Friday night.The Ganders rebounded from a 3-0 halftime deficit for a rain-soaked 4-3 win over South Houston at Stallworth Stadium, avenging a bi-district shutout loss to the Trojans last year. Junior Luis Camacho led the way for the Ganders with a hat trick.With two Gander starters benched for disciplinary reasons, first-time varsity goal keeper Armando Torres gave up three first-half goals. But Torres settled in to his new position and had an outstanding night, keeping the Ganders in the game. The Ganders began their comeback 10 minutes into the second half when Edgar Sanchez got a cross past South Houston’s goalkeeper to Camacho for Lee’s first goal of the game. Five minutes later, Camacho took a deep pass from Patrick Christian to set up for his second goal of the game. Camacho scored his third goal on a Benito Huerta assist.Ulises Irias scored the winning goal with five minutes remaining in the game.
