pete22600 Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 lets just see what happens here do you think will pass are not
UNLV Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 As if a true LU fan will vote against it.
Guest abovetherim Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 It will pass and Lamar will have a football team again in the very near future.
Guest roberthollister Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 I'll definitely vote yes. I'm a grad student with only 3 hrs this semester, but every vote counts.
Guest coachacola Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 It'll pass easily. I also predict that a lot of students will attend the football games and that will in turn get a lot more students at the basketball games.
Ruckdad Posted January 21, 2008 Report Posted January 21, 2008 I'm nervous about the vote - Not sure it will go across so easily. There are plenty of people out there that are not excited about the extra $130.00 on their tuition, and they complain about the parking and the condition of some of the buildings on campus. I'm not a student, so I can't vote, but I hope that 51% of the students that do vote, vote yes!
Cat22 Posted January 21, 2008 Report Posted January 21, 2008 I'm not a student either and have not been on campus except for the Montagne Center, but is the school promoting this? Do they have any banners or anything like that up around campus?
weslinder Posted January 21, 2008 Report Posted January 21, 2008 I'm not a student either and have not been on campus except for the Montagne Center, but is the school promoting this? Do they have any banners or anything like that up around campus? I'm in the same shape, but I have had a chance to talk to several students, even those who aren't interested in sports. Everyone knows about the vote. It is the biggest news on campus. If anyone doesn't vote, it will be because they didn't want to, not because they didn't know.
WOS95 Posted January 21, 2008 Report Posted January 21, 2008 i dont have a class on the 29th but i will drive to beaumont anyway to vote yes!!! 8)
NedDog Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 Hopefully, the feelings of those on this board will translate into real results on election day.
Guest abovetherim Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 The vote will be heavily in favor of football returning to Lamar. I'll be casting my vote in 7 days and counting!
NewCardinal Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 You can count LamarJunior and myself on the roll call for those voting for a return of football. The 29th is the first day but remember they are voting the 30th too. I'm pretty sure the SGA is holding the vote in the Setzer Center.
lcm2007ms Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 i will surely be voting yes and will also try and get as many people as i can to vote yes also!! ;D
Guest abovetherim Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 We need at least 1,500 people to vote so it will be at least 15% of the student population. So everyone needs to get your friends and family members out to the Setzer Students Center on the 29th and 30th. This way the administration can go to the TSUS will some strong figures showing the students really want football to return to the Lamar University campus.
Guest abovetherim Posted January 24, 2008 Report Posted January 24, 2008 Just a little update. I spoke with the SGA president today and got a few things cleared up. The $8.75 is for the fall and spring semesters. During the summer sessions the fee will be about $4.00. Just thought I'd pass this information on to everyone. BTW, the SGA president seems very polite, approachable, friendly, professional and really cares about Lamar University. We got a good guy for our SGA president! He really seems to love Lamar and isn't just using the position as a good resume' builder.
TheSportsDoctor Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 I'm not sure how the people in Jefferson and Hardin counties feel about this issue but I can tell you with a certain degree of confidence the students from Orange and Newton counties will vote heavily in favor of the referendum.
Guest Kelly Football Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 Let's all vote!!!!!!!!!!!!
